Aaron eyed the big mansion towering over him. His nerves kicking at his feet. He never knew coming out to someone he cherished would be this hard, but the more steps he took the more slower they became. He was probably overthinking things like he usually did but this was Xavier for Christ sake. The man had no venerable bone in his body, and he had no filter too. If Xavier didn't like this, he'd give it to Aaron bluntly and not care if that hurt the male's feelings or not. They had been best friends for years. Maybe he should try to look at this from a positive angle. Xavier would accept him, if not now, then eventually. If he didn't lose his childhood best friend in the process. Aaron sighed and tracked into the mansion. The long corridor closing in on him. His heart hadn't yielded. If anything he knew if it could, it would jump out of his chest.
"You look like you've just seen a ghost," Xavier said as soon as he saw the small figure appear into the living room. He had a drink in his hand, the man seemed deeply focused on his cellular.
"Do I?" Aaron voiced nervously as he cleared his throat. Aaron took calculated steps towards him as he took a seat next to Xavier who didn't even bat him an eye. Xavier probably knew Aaron was about to pull his usual quirky self and bother the male, invading his peace. Yet Aaron didn't have it in him today. The man was scared, scared for his life.
"You seem squeamish." Xavier said, his eyes still focused on his phone.
"I need to tell you something, are you busy?" Aaron asked softly.
"No. What is it? Why are you being weird?" Xavier asked lowly.
"Just promise what I'm about to say won't change how you see me. You are my best friend and it didn't seem right not to tell you." Aaron said sternly. His heart was beating crazy at this point, he only hoped he wasn't about to faint.
"Promise." Xavier said, he still hadn't looked at Aaron, his gaze fixated on whatever was on his cellular, the drink swaying in his hand as he took a sip. Xavier then put the glass on the coffee table, his focus moving away from his phone, as he stared deeply at Aaron who couldn't meet his gaze now. He fIddled with his fingers.
"You're freaking me out, you're never this quiet. What's the matter Aaron?" Xavier asked warmly. This had been the first time Xavier had actually been this gentle with Aaron. Xavier didn't show much of his sensitivies. His face was always void and his eyes didn't betray what the man felt. It's like he had forgotten he was human.
"I'm gay, Xavier." Aaron blurted out.
"Okay." Xavier said lowly.
"Okay?" Aaron said titling his head to the side.
"Yes, what more do you want me to say?" Xavier questioned.
"I don't know, let me know you still love me? That this doesn't change anything between us?" Aaron said raising his hands.
"It doesn't if it's a joke." Xavier said.
"You think I'm joking?" Aaron asked letting out a low chuckle.
"Yes. You've been interested in women all your life and now all of the sudden you find men attractive?" Xavier asked. He hid the grimace he felt thinking about such, men loving other men seemed forbidden in his eyes, it wasn't normal.
"Why in the whole world would I joke about such Xavier?" Aaron asked, his eyes boring into Xavier's ones.
"I don't know Aaron, for attention?" Xavier said coldly. The man scoffed and reached for his phone. He didn't have time for Aaron's jokes, he had a lot of other concerning things to think of.
