The city buzzed with life outside Grace's studio, a stark contrast to the storm brewing within her. She stood in the center of the room, surrounded by the remnants of her unfinished paintings, each stroke on the canvas a reflection of her turmoil. The folder Kai had given her lay open on the table, its contents a dark revelation that had upended everything she thought she knew about her life.

Kai stood by the window, his eyes scanning the street below. He had called in a few favors, and his contacts were already digging into the network Grace's parents had been involved with. Kai nodded thoughtfully. "Your parents left behind more than just you, Grace. They left clues and breadcrumbs that could lead us to whatever Lucien is after. We just have to follow them."

Grace frowned, trying to piece together the fragments of her past. "There is one thing," she said slowly, her mind racing back to her childhood. "I used to have this old locket. My mother gave it to me. I never thought much of it—just a keepsake. But now, with everything you've told me, I can't help but wonder if it's connected somehow."

Kai's eyes lit up with interest. "Do you still have it?"

Grace bit her lip, thinking. "I'm not sure. I haven't seen it in years. It might be at my parents' house. After they passed
