Scaramouche had his new Fatui attire on; dark clothes and a large goofy hat. why the hell did he wear it?
he was packing up the few things he had: a catalyst, some books, files and a coat for Sneshnaya. I stared at him while leaning on the doorframe. "I don't think we will meet again on formal occasions.." I frowned as he kept looking around the room for stuff to bring with him "why do you say?" he asked
"you won't come back here anymore and this is the only place I go to..." I explained as he turned around walking extremely close to me to the point we were both under his hat
"then leave" he said "I can't I-" he moved even closer till our noses touched "I said leave"
"I said I can't" I glared "what, you signed some contract?" he mocked me
"I belong here" I glared "you belong where you want to belong..." he said as his breath felt cold on my face.. "I want to belong here.. I belong in the shadows, making researches and-"
he turned to leave "this doesn't end here though" he glared coldly but I grabbed his wrist "one last goodbye?" I asked shyly looking down but he shove me off and left.
I stood there in his room. but I didn't cry or fall down on my knees, I finally felt the need to live. I felt the need to stop blending in and using my smarts to reach the top!
I got a new mission from the doctor: I had to go to Inazuma and collect data on a certain youkai who apparently held the electro gnosis.
Yae Miko? I knew that name ofcourse! and I knew it wasn't going to be easy...
I know it wasn't something I do on daily basis, yet it was a thrilling experience!
I did my job perfectly, handed in my finds to a fatui agent and.. I even received a vision, a dendro one... I only wish scaramouche was here with me.
I got back some days later though. as soon as I saw La Signora getting killed by the Raiden Shogun I thought it would've been best for me to leave and not offer the Traveler some insights on the fatui.
I got back but soon after the Doctor asked me to go to Sneshnaya so I could help him deliever some researches to the Tsaritsa.
as I was working in the lab's office another researcher came looking for me "Miss (name), there is a harbinger outside demanding your presence"
"just tell him to get in, it must be the Doctor" I explained while I kept working. "it's not the Doctor.. it's the Balladeer.." he explained "he said he doesn't want to come in and that you must meet him outside right now"
Scaramouche... I got up from the chair and without saying anything I ran outside.
it was snowing and there was some wind, I was just wearing my lab attire but I didn't care about the cold snowflakes lingering on my skin.
"you'll catch a cold" he said appearing in front of me. he was beautiful. "I'm a puppet too.. remember?" I explained with a small smile.
"have you heard about me?" he asked. I actually didn't. he ruffled through his pocket and took out a glowing purple chess piece. the Electro Gnosis...
"that's-!" he placed a finger on my mouth shushing me as I glared slightly. "I shouldn't have it" he explained, but I made a deal with Yae Miko.. thanks for the research I stole.." he grinned. oh. so he took it.
"(Name), I officialised your department from the Doctor's labs to stay by my side as I work on the Kami-project" he explained holding up briefly a document before tucking it back into his pocket.
I was going to leave...? "but I.." he shushed me again "shut up and follow me"
it was all so sudden. The Doctor didn't even mention this to me! this is weird.
I got my stuff and followed him in the snow. "no need to bring that stuff yourself, one of my servants can bring it to you later." he glared at a fatui agent who quickly took the luggage
"great, let's go" he said holding my index finger. does he have a fetish for index fingers?
we got inside a cabin of a train and headed towards Sumeru "I didn't know trains were a thing.." I muttered under my breath "it's a secret fatui thing. you really think we'd be able to pull out surprises that quickly without it?" he grinned
"are you cold?.." he suddenly asked as I shook my head. "the Doctor told me you shouldn't be out in the cold too much though, your skin is delicate" he said scooting closer and wrapping his coat on me. did the doctor tell him how many times I pee too?!
after a while the train stopped "before you ask: no, we aren't in Sumeru yet but we are stopping by this Inn in Fontaine for the night" he explained as I followed him till we were in the room... there was just one bed.
