I Want To Be Your Man by Zapp and Roger played lowly on the radio as he looked out the window while his mom Monica drove. This was Monica's favorite song and everytime she got in the car she played this song so he knew the song by heart.
He was Ja Morant. Ja's dreams was to become a basketball player since he was little kid. When he was 6 years old all he wanted to do was watch basketball games on tv at home while Monica folded clothes in the background watching as her son got happy everytime somebody made a shot. As he got older, he started going to the park to play a couple boys in basketball winning everyone game he played. He grew up in the hood in a small town called Dalzel. As he grew up he trained himself practicing everyday so that he could get his mom out the hood.
And now it was finally starting to come true.
In high school since he was so good at basketball Ja started to become known in his small town. Everybody walked up to him as he went in malls asking for pictures and autographs and gladly did them since he loved the love he was receiving. Ja then was offered a scholarship his last game of the year in 12 grade and he gladly accepted it. Now he knew his dreams of becoming the biggest basketball player in the world was starting to come true.
"We are here" Monica smiled, as she pulled into Maury state university. Ja looked out the window watching as kids walked pushed carts that carried their bags and others standing talking with their friends. There was also a big table with kids sitting at talking to parents and handing out papers.
Monica pulled into the parking lot and parked the car and turned it off and looked over at her son smiling. Monica was beyond proud of how far her son came it felt just like it was yesterday when Ja was 4 watching basketball and cheering every time the players made a goal.
"Ma your face gone get stuck like that" Ja chuckled and Monica smacked her lips waving her son off.
"I'm serious" Ja chuckled. He took his seat belt off and then stretched as much as he could. He was 6'1 so there wasn't much room for him.
"Come on boy, let's get out the car" Monica said, as she opened the door. Ja grabbed his bookbag that was in the front with him along with his phone that sat in his lap and got out the car closing the door.
"Ima go get you one of them carts" Monica told her son and Ja nodded. Ja leaned on the back of the trunk watching as cars pulled into the parking and others as they loaded their bags on the cart. He still couldn't believe his eyes that he was at his dream college. All his other friends that applied to this college didn't get in he had to start over making new friends which he didn't mind.
