ON THE TWELFTH hour on the first day of October 1989, 43 women around the world gave birth. This was unusual only in the fact none of these women were pregnant when the day first began.

Lim Jaymin was one of these such anomalies. A long time resident of Aberdeen, Washington, Jaymin lived a relatively normal life. She graduated with decent grades, went to college and got a degree in Education, and went on to be a 3rd grade elementary school teacher. She had normal struggles and had normal successes. She had no husband, but had a cat named Tiger. She had no enemies and had a small group of friends she hung out with from time to time.

She was what many would consider to be ordinary.

Yet, that one faithful day in October was anything but ordinary. It was a Sunday afternoon and she was at a small cafe not too far from home where she agreed to meet some of her old college friends for dinner. Jaymin, Hannah, Ethan, and Maxine were chatting amongst themselves, munching on their food and sipping on glasses of white wine. The shrimp Jaymin had ordered was good and didn't seem to bother her when a sharp pain stabbed her in the stomach.

She winced and frowned at the ache. She reassured her friends who questioned if she was fine, claiming it was most likely due to her upcoming period. Dinner continued on, yet the pain twisting in Jaymin's gut only grew worse. What was once equivalent to a cramp now upgraded to full on contractions.

Within minutes, Jaymin found herself lying on the floor of the cafe's outside patio with a belly swelling like a balloon. Her friends, staff, and other customers were around her, providing their support as she screamed in agony.

She clutched Ethan and Hannah's hands and was instructed by an older lady customer to push. So she did and out came a cry.

The elder held a wailing newborn girl in her bloodied palms. She passed off the baby to Jaymin. Jaymin was drenched in sweat and panted like she ran a marathon when she was given her daughter.

She shared looks between her friends who all held the same mix of expressions: shock, horror, and concern.

Despite the strange circumstances regarding her birth, Parker grew up just as normal as her mother. She hit all the appropriate milestones and went to school. She enjoyed playing in the mud, finger painting, and watching Saturday morning cartoons. She was a typical kid.
