Adam was fascinated by this castle. Animal skulls lined the walls and ripped paintings of lost arts since fated away. Next he walked into what looked like a living room that was turned into a music room.

After searching the basement for 30 minutes then the kitchen and walking by a lit fireplace, with three burning logs, Adam could tell someone was obviously living here.

On Adam's radio Gabriel's voice was heard. "Sir it's been more than a hour and you haven't reported back."

Adam picks up. "Sorry my bad, I found myself in this abandoned house next to the cemetery and I think someone is living here?"

"Do you want back up?" Roland asked listening in on the other line.

"I'll keep you all posted, but stay in the area. some homeless person is probably living here."

__

After that conversation and doing multiple check ups , Adam climbed the stairs to the second floor and walked into a semi-dark room. It was simple. There was a queen sized bed with black sheets , blankets and book shelves filled with random books , stuffed animals and figurines. A messy desk with missing people posters sat in the middle of the room with an old typewriter with cobwebs on it, a few boxes of gothic clothes and boots were thrown in a corner.

"It's so damn dark in here."

"That's vampires life for you." A voice says behind him.

when he looked up at the ceiling, he saw fangs, white short hair, claws, large bat wings and yellow eyes

In an instant, the female hissing figure had Adam flat on his back, one clawed hand forcing his head back to expose his neck. He couldn't see the girl's face , her mouth open wide to expose those deadly teeth.

Adam snatches her wrist and twists it, knocking the blade that she stole out of her grip and sending it clanging along the bedroom floor. A clawed hand seizes adam's hair drawing blood, wrenching his head back as the female vampire leans over him.

"Come now human, play nice. I have no intentions of harming you.....unless you ask for it."

"What the hell lady!"

"Hey! I'm protecting my home and your trespassing!"

"Get off of me!" Adam bares his teeth again in a snarl and kicks her vampire off of him, sending her flying down the stairs and knocking her out cold.

"Shit! my old man was right, vampires are real!" Adam panicked as he scrambled to his feet, climbing down the batter, and saw that half the living room was already engulfed in fire.

Gasoline smelling flames start to lick at the black curtains of the windows to the upper second floor.

"HOW?!" Adam exclaimed he racked his brain trying to figure out how the abandoned house suddenly caught fire.

The only explanation was the fireplace, missing person flyers , laying on the floor was a gasoline soaked rag in a broken beer bottle and several loose drawing papers probably got overturned during their struggle and now the house was on fire and he had to find a way to escape.

________

The next morning.

When the female vampire awakens, the world is slow, hazy and warm. Her head throbs, she groggily opens her yellow eyes to see brick walls all around her.
She's laying on a comfortable mattress and tucked in a blanket, but worse of all she had a silver collar on her neck and a 1 foot chain attached to the wall.

Earlier events rush back to her. On instinct alone, her hand reaches out, fumbling the chain trying to break it.

"I wouldn't try it, it's pure blessed silver!"

She bolts up with a gasp, when she spots the person from last night, few meters away, leaned against a the wall drinking a cup of coffee.

"You're awake." Adam close the book on vampires. "You can call me adam , I'm a detective by the way hence the reason I was in your house."

She narrows her yellow eyes. The humiliation of getting locked up by a human burns. How could she have fallen so quickly against such a creature in over 300 years?

"I don't recall asking for your fucking name." Her words lacking a bite to his throat that she should have done and gotten it over with.

Adam sighed before explaining. "Well from the kindness of my heart, I took you to my home since you lost your home to a fire.

She easily waves off his proud human code. "Well my name is lute, you pathetic mortal.." she growls , black wings spread out and lunges at him with her claws but the chain prevents her from reaching him.

"So much for gratitude." Adam scoffed before walking back upstairs. "Your manners are in need of improvement, blood drinker."

Notes:

Lute the vampire is here and she's chained up in Adam's basement....will the chains hold her through?
