Chapter 0: After years and years of My reign
The weather looked good today - everything is going fine as ever. One by one, Ben took each step down the cement steps. He wore a black jacket, an undershirt, a pair of black sneakers, loose-fitting long trousers, and a black cap as well. All of this was a disguise. He was coming from somewhere that no person should know, and so should he, not ever again should he return to. A promise he swore not to go by in any way, form, or order. This was it. This was the last day, and the last day he'd use to sneak out of this place, undetected.
It was not long ago that Ben was still in office that he announced his retirement to his most trusted. The people he most wanted to go with his plan. However, some of his most trusted individuals wanted none to take part. They wanted Ben to keep on continuing, and for a long time, they'd never met anyone so concerned, trusting, loyal, and ever promising to lead his country. Someone like that is very hard to find.
But during this decision, Ben had no other choice. His reign and the government of his country have come to an end. He believed that a new generation was in place to take up the mantle, and his most trusted will be there to assist in any way possible.
For the longest time, after 500 years, Ben wondered what he do with his life. Maybe this time, he will spend his time leisurely settled under a proper roof, eat good food, and spend his remaining years however he intended, besides, the one to rule is no more - the person he was previously a benevolent despot is no more. What its purpose served had come to an end.
As Ben walked along a hallway stretched far and wide, a few voices spoke out amongst themselves.
"Who's that?"
"Focus!"
"Oh sorry."
Ben didn't mind one bit and disappeared from their sight.
At the secure and guarded gate prone with advanced technology, the systems were turned off momentarily just for enough time for Ben to slip past the security detection. And the metal bars that blocked his way, opened with a slight push that had him out.
Of course, Ben wasn't going to be left alone and be by himself. A taxi parked next to the gate waiting for his arrival. He knocked on the window and the taxi driver was wowed by the sudden appearance of Ben. The door clicked and Ben got in at the back of the seats.
"Good morning sir," the taxi driver greeted.
Ben nodded.
The taxi driver saw him just by the mirror reflection. He looked back and spoke as if he was trying his hardest.
Ben didn't mind him too. He simply waited.
"So where do you want to go, sir?" The taxi driver asked.
"To Elah Beach. You know where it is, right?" Ben said.
"Yes yes sir, I do know. I'll drive you there." The engine began and they went their merry way.
~~~~~~
The taxi driver is part of Ben's plan. The taxi driver is a newbie at his job, and although that might seem like a bad idea; it is the best idea. Ben doesn't want someone so far experienced and be shocked to learn who his customer is - that will be a bad thing and everyone will know. So a newbie, who is unfamiliar, does the job perfectly.
Right now Ben just wanted to breathe in some fresh air and what's more nostalgic is to do it at the beach.
As the taxi drove on the city road, Ben looked out of the window and saw tall, large buildings reach the sky as high as the clouds could cover. A magnificent feat of design and engineering.
Back in the day, seeing these buildings wasn't a common sight, in fact, skyscrapers such as these only involved foreign companies and locally owned wasn't the norm. But that was the past. Admiring the scene in front of him, Ben felt glad his people made use of the opportunities to support themselves and have their businesses in their own country and not to be told by anyone else.
He could see just the average men and women walking on the sidewalk (Fully independent). Although they came from different backgrounds, their existence was at a level where they could coexist with each other. They were part of an internal cycle. External people would only destroy them. His face formed a smile.
But the moment was interrupted when the taxi driver came in, "Sorry sir, but it seems we have a traffic jam problem. You don't mind waiting-"
"It's alright. We'll wait," Ben said which caught the taxi driver off guard.
