Robin was dreaming again.Dreaming of running through a field of flowers, laughing merrily as the fresh air rushes through her long, curly hair. Dreaming of lying contently in the pillowy grass, arm resting against her forehead to protect her eyes from the glistening sun.
Sun. She was dreaming of the Sun.
Oh, to feel the warmth and the glow upon her fair skin, she'd never wished for anything more. Well, at least that's what she told herself, her heart wished for something else. Something she knew she shouldn't want, in fear it could ruin everything, but the heart always finds a way.
As the sun shined upon the girl, she felt a slight pressure envelope her right hand. This was a new kind of warmth, it felt comforting, like home. Turning her head to the side, she squinted to see what could possibly be the culprit of this feeling.
Brown eyes met blue and everything fell into place.
"BARK!"
Robin hit her head as she jolted awake from her slumber. She never liked mornings, and always cursed herself for staying up into the later hours of the night. Rubbing the already sore spot, she swung her legs over to the side of her bed. She was situated on the top bunk which meant every morning she had to climb down to begin her day. Well...most would climb down, but unlike most people, Robin was too lazy to do all of that. Instead, every morning she decided to jump down, which is just what she did today.
Stumbling due to the sharp jolt that shot up her legs, Robin gripped the wall of their trailer to stabilize herself. Looking down she saw her favorite nonhuman, Nova.
"You just had to wake me up so abruptly, didn't you? Wasn't like I was having a nice dream of anything." she whispered sarcastically to the dog, groaning as her head still continued to throb.
Nova was a German Shepherd mix, although no one knew exactly what the "mix" part was. Robin came across her searching through their trailer to find some food a couple years back, she could never say no to a puppy dog's eyes. Instead of shooing her away like Bjorn would've done, she decided to share her small meal with the dog. Thus a bond formed between the two, a bond so strong that many others grew puzzled at how they could communicate so well.
Bending down a bit to pet the dog, Robin whispered, "my personal alarm clock."
"Oh, good you're up," a familiar accented voice spoke.
Tyler stood in the doorway, arms crossed in front of his chest. A small smirk grew on his face as he saw the rough state his best friend was in. Tyler and Robin had always been close, seeing as their fathers were too. Robin's father always assumed Kay and her would be the closest, which they were to a degree, but there was something so kindred about the relationship between Tyler and Robin that anyone with eyes could see that they just fit. From tackling each other to singing with each other, the two of them were inseparable, and then they met Rain.
Rain changed everything, in good ways mainly, but in some bad ways too.
"You look like shit."
Robin scoffed lightly, "Yeah well, I basically almost just died thanks to this fool," she pointed at the dog sitting patiently beside her, "Plus, not all of us can look like fucking supermodels the second we get up."
Tyler chuckled and opened his mouth to respond before being interrupted by his younger sister (who somehow does not share the same accent as her brother...)
"Morning RoRo! I made breakfast."
Robin smiled at the happy girl, she loved Kay with all her heart but could not understand how in the world that girl was so sweet in the mornings. Kay and Robin had gotten closer as they got older. They were both insanely loyal and protective and knew they would do anything for the other. Robin was very thankful for Kay, who took Tylers spot as he became preoccupied with other things and other people. Kay was always trying to make sure Robin felt seen, and Robin was eternally grateful to her for that.
