Angel stands still unmoving. The room felt colder as Santos stood up, the shadows in the room seeming to cling to him as he moved. Angel watched him carefully, every instinct screaming at her to be on guard. Her parents' house had always been a place where she could feel safe, but now, with Santos here, it felt like a trap.

"Angel, we need to talk about what comes next," Santos said, his voice low and dangerous. He glanced at her father, who was trying to avoid his gaze, and then back at Angel. "You know things have changed while you were away. The world outside isn't the same, and you need to understand where you stand."

Angel's heart sank. She knew exactly what he was talking about. During her time in prison, she had heard rumors about Santos getting involved with a gang, about how he had climbed the ranks, gaining power and influence. She had hoped they were just that—rumors. But seeing him now, the way he carried himself, the darkness in his eyes, she knew it was true.

"I'm not part of your world, Santos," Angel said firmly, trying to keep her voice steady. "Whatever your involved in, I don't want no part of it."

He chuckled, the sound cold and devoid of humor. "You think you have a choice? You think you can just walk away from me, from us? I've got a lot of people who depend on me now, Angel. And if you're not with us, then you're against us."

Her mother's hand tightened on her arm, a silent plea for her to be careful. But Angel couldn't let him control her any longer. Not after everything she had been through.

"You don't own me," she said, her voice stronger now. "I won't be a part of your gang, and I won't let you drag me down with yuh."

Santos' expression darkened, his eyes narrowing as he stepped closer. "You think you're in control here? You think you can just say no and walk away? I made sure you had a place to come back to. I kept things in line while you were gone. I did that for you."
