To Renna Rose Lancaster, Aadam Callahan was her first taste of magic-the boy who made her world feel livelier, brighter, like anything was possible. Together they crafted a bond that felt unbreakable-a universe where dreams were shared under starlit...

This is ridiculous.
Two weeks, and she looked like she was about to collapse at the airport. You'd think I was off to war.
But here I am, standing in the garden, freezing my ass off in this winter, just to watch Cameron spin her around like a drunk ballerina.
Why? Because I can't stay away. Not from her.
I shifted my weight from one foot to the other, my hands stuffed deep into my coat pockets. Mr. Thomas stood beside me, his arms folded. His brows knitted together as his gaze followed her wobbling steps across the snow-covered garden.
"She's going to trip," he muttered, more to himself than me.
"She's fine," I said, mostly to convince myself. I mean, she's clumsy, sure, but not that clumsy. "Cameron knows better than to let her fall... I think."
And if he doesn't, well, he's got a death wish coming.
Thomas gave me a pointed look that practically screamed, And you trust that idiot?
Okay, fair.
"I'll step in if she does," I added, knowing full well I wasn't going to let her faceplant in her own garden.
This surprise would lose its magic if she broke her nose before seeing me.
"Alright," Rose called out after Cameron finally stopped spinning her, her voice wobbly but determined. "I'm coming for you guys."
The grin that tugged at my lips was impossible to suppress.
God, she's adorable. Like a furious kitten trying to chase down a pack of wolves.
She stumbled forward, arms outstretched, and the sound of Cameron's obnoxious laughter echoed through the garden.
"Where am I even going?" she called out, frustration creeping into her tone.
"Straight to disaster," Isla quipped, her voice light and teasing.
"Careful, sweetheart, you'll bruise more than your pride at this rate," I muttered under my breath, half hoping she'd somehow hear me. But of course, she didn't.
"You're all going to pay for this," Rose mumbled, but the smile tugging at her lips gave her away.
You're such an ass, Cameron. If she trips and falls, I'm blaming you.
I bit back a laugh as Rose whirled toward the sound, her hands flailing in thin air.
"You're next, Cameron!" she yelled, her tone laced with the kind of determination that could only belong to someone who had no idea how terrible her aim was.
