It was a quiet night. The night sky was a pitch black, with a few stars scattered about. 17 year old Sophia slept peacefully in her bed.
Suddenly, a thump could be heard from inside her room. Sophia slowly opened her eyes and sat up, staring into the dark room. Just then, there was another thump.Panic filled her eyes. Where was this sound coming from? She slowly looked around the dark room, trying to find the source of the sound.
The last thump seemingly came from the end of her bed. She stared at the end of her bed. It was pitch black. No light at all in that corner.
Sophia's eyes started to water. “I’m scared”, she thought. “Is something hiding in the dark…?”
She was too scared to reach for the light switch.
Then a soft voice spoke, “Do not be scared”.
Sophia was now trembling. “Who are you?“, she said.
“I just came here to look at you”, the voice replied.
Sophia was even more panicked. “I don’t want you to look at me! Go away! You’re scaring me”
The voice spoke again, “Would it make you feel better if I showed you what I look like? If I do, you may not feel so scared anymore. After all, I do look human.”
Sophia didn’t trust this voice. But she also very much wanted to know what this mystery being looked like. “OK, show me.”
Suddenly, a man appeared at the foot of the bed. He was very handsome, with beautiful black hair, and deep brown eyes. He looked normal
Sophia was speechless. Even though she was afraid, she also found this being attractive. She was blushing as she spoke, “A.....a demon?”
The demon had a smile on his face, it seemed that he was quite amused. “Well, that’s what I am.” he said.
Sophia sat up a bit more, still feeling terrified, but also intrigued. “Why are you here?”
“I simply came here to look at you, my dear, you are quite beautiful after all.”
Sophia's face went a bit redder. This thing calling her beautiful sounded so wrong, but at the same time, she kind of liked it. But she still wanted to know who this being was.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” She said. “And why are you here?”
The demon chuckled a bit. “You're the first person to ask why I'm visiting. Everyone's first reaction is to just scream and run away. But you didn't. You're brave, just like you are beautiful.”
Sophia didn't even know what to feel right now, she was both scared, but also flattered? Did she just hear a demon say the word beautiful? And why does this demon seem to admire her bravery.
She tried to control her emotions a bit, she couldn't let this demon see that part of her. “What are you going to do now?”
The demon chuckled again, he was amused, and enjoying messing with Sophia. “That’s a good question, my darling. I have no reason to do anything bad, so I’m not here to harm you.”
He stood up, and walked around the bed to where Sophia was sitting, at this point, Sophia was frozen, her eyes watching every movement, but she didn’t try to run away.
The demon now stood at the side of the bed, looking down at Sophia, he had a smile on his face, as if he was enjoying seeing her all scared and helpless. For a few minutes, he just stared at her, admiring her beauty. She looked up at him, frozen with fear, but also curiosity.
The demon’s smile grew wider as he continued to look at her. “Still speechless, I see?” He said, in a mocking way. “You know, I’m starting to enjoy this quite a bit.”
