The aggregate crumbled underneath our car as we pulled into the long, snaking driveway of the cabin. As I got out of the black shining car, I pulled my luggage into the wooden shelter. I walked up the carpeted stairway leading into the 100 square foot room that I would be calling home for the next week. I sat down my suitcase and walked over to a picture that was hanging from the wall. It was a picture of the family who used to live there. The caption below it read:
This photograph was taken in 1987 after the mother's death. Only a few years later the rest of the family died in a car crash. The police found in 1990 that the youngest daughter (far left corner) survived the crash. She hadn't been found, so people say that she stills roams the hallways of the cabin her family lived in.
My face turned from excited to frightened as I heard footsteps.
