In 2016, GECT identified a dire need in the Sundarbans where families affected by tiger attacks struggle to survive. The trust did something amazing: help was extended to such suffering communities in different villages, from Amlamethi to Shibganj, Bijoynagar, Dayapur, etc. Ever since, GECT has emerged as the best charitable trust for tiger victim families by rendering them the finest services in health, education, food, cloth, and sanitation. Today, GECT cares for 800 widowed women and 1,000 children in the Sundarbans, providing them with essential services and hope for the future.

Comprehensive Support and Empowerment

In the long term, GECT has taken many initiatives to empower these communities beyond meeting their needs alone. The trust had set up computer labs with qualified teachers, improved the school infrastructure, and initiated recreational activities for children. As the premier charitable trust for Sundarbans, GECT also happens to be very famous for conducting a unique Durga Puja celebration with widowed women so as to let them feel part of society and equally important.

Expanding Compassion Beyond Human Welfare

GECT's care does not stop at human welfare. The trust recently took the responsibility of looking after 50 horses in Old Calcutta, feeding them and providing medication and treatment to them. This opens up the much larger concern GECT has for all living beings.

GECT now gearing up for its next major project: establishment of a Primary English Medium School in the Sundarbans. This would help facilitate quality education to children in the region and provide the needed foundation toward a brighter future.
