**Wayne POV**

Wayne stared out the window of his small, sparsely furnished room in the military base, his phone pressed to his ear. The corners of his mouth twitched upwards as he listened to his sister's cheerful voice. It was a rare moment of warmth in his otherwise rigid life.

"Jisoo," Wayne began, his tone softening as he spoke, "just one more year, and I'll be out of here. Discharged for good. We can finally be together as a family again."

There was a brief pause on the other end before Jisoo's voice, slightly more subdued, replied, "I can't wait for that day, oppa. I've missed you so much. It feels like forever since we've been able to just... be together without all this distance."

Wayne chuckled lightly. "I've missed you too, Jisoo. We'll make up for lost time. I promise. We can do all the things we used to-catch a movie, grab dinner, maybe even take that vacation we talked about."

Jisoo's voice brightened, a hint of the old sparkle returning. "You mean that beach trip we never got to take? I'd love that. Just the two of us, like old times."

"Exactly. Just you and me," Wayne affirmed, a rare warmth in his voice. "Hang in there, okay? I'll be home soon."

Jisoo swallowed hard, her smile wavering though her voice remained steady. "I will, oppa. You take care of yourself too. Don't push too hard."

Wayne smiled at her concern, a pang of guilt gnawing at him for not being there. "I'll be careful. You know me."

As they said their goodbyes, Wayne's heart felt lighter, looking forward to a future where they could both heal and be happy again.

**Jisoo POV**

As soon as the call ended, Jisoo's hand fell limply to her side, her phone slipping from her grasp and landing softly on the bed. The smile she had worn for her brother's sake crumbled, replaced by a flood of tears that she could no longer hold back.

Curling up on her bed, Jisoo buried her face in her pillow, her sobs muffled by the soft fabric. The weight of her secret was unbearable, the constant torment from Jeno, Mark, and Jaemin gnawing at her soul. Every cruel word, every sneer, every painful memory played over in her mind, tearing at her already fragile heart.

She had to keep it all inside. For Wayne. For the one person she couldn't bear to disappoint. But the pressure was too much, and now, in the safety of her room, she let it all out, crying until she felt utterly drained, as though her heart might shatter from the pain.

**Karina POV**

Karina sat at a sleek, modern table in the upscale café, one of many her father owned. The space was bustling with life-music playing softly in the background, the clinking of glasses and the hum of conversations filling the air. But to Karina, it was all just noise.

Her friends, NingNing and Giselle, were engaged in a lively conversation with Jeno, Mark, and Jaemin, laughing and sharing stories as they enjoyed their drinks. Karina, however, felt detached, a deep boredom settling over her. She stared out the large windows, watching the city lights twinkle in the evening sky, wishing she could be anywhere but here.

The idea of going out had seemed fine at first, but now, sitting here, she regretted it. Her friends had practically dragged her along, promising a fun evening, but it had quickly turned into a monotonous gathering she had no interest in. The laughter and chatter of her friends only made her feel more isolated, a stark contrast to the calm and solitude she craved.

Sighing, Karina leaned back in her chair, her mind wandering as she imagined being at home, curled up with a book or simply enjoying the quiet. Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of a chair scraping the floor beside her.

Jeno, noticing Karina's isolation, saw this as the perfect opportunity. He sauntered over, a self-assured smirk on his face as he slid into the chair next to her.

"Hey, Karina," Jeno started, trying to sound casual. "You look a little lonely over here. Want some company?"

Karina didn't even bother to hide her irritation. She rolled her eyes, her gaze fixed firmly on the table in front of her. "Not really," she replied curtly, hoping he would take the hint.

But Jeno wasn't easily deterred. Leaning in slightly, he continued, "Come on, no need to be so cold. We're all friends here, right?"

Karina finally looked up, her eyes narrowing as she met his gaze. "I'm not interested, Jeno," she said bluntly, her voice carrying a sharp edge. "Go back to your seat."

The awkward tension hung in the air for a moment as Jeno's confident demeanor faltered. He hadn't expected such a direct rejection, especially not from Karina. Clearing his throat, he tried to recover, but Karina had already turned away, effectively ending the conversation before it could go any further.

Jeno's face flushed slightly as he stood up, trying to act as though nothing had happened. He returned to the group, leaving Karina alone, exactly as she wanted to be.
