**WAYNE POV**

Wayne crouched low behind a crumbling wall, his eyes scanning the enemy headquarters through the dense underbrush. The night was pitch-black, the only light coming from the pale moon that struggled to break through the thick clouds. His heart pounded in his chest, but it wasn't the adrenaline of the mission. Something was wrong-he could feel it in his gut. An unsettling unease that had been gnawing at him since dawn.

His hand tightened around his rifle, his breath steady but his mind racing. Wayne was known for his precision, his cold, calculating strategies that never failed. But today, his thoughts were scattered, unable to shake the nagging sense of dread that hung over him like a dark cloud.

His teammate, BamBam, crept up beside him, his voice barely a whisper. "Wayne, you good? You've been off all day. Are you sure you're up for this?"

Wayne glanced at BamBam, trying to muster his usual calm. "I'm fine," he replied, though the words felt hollow. He could see the doubt in BamBam's eyes, but there was no time for reassurance. They were deep in enemy territory, the mission already in motion.

Another teammate, crouching nearby, looked over with concern. "We trust you, Wayne. But if something's up, you need to let us know. We can't afford any slip-ups."

Wayne nodded, trying to push his unease aside. "I know. Stay focused, and we'll get through this."

But even as he spoke, the unease lingered, a shadow in the back of his mind. The team moved forward in silent synchrony, the air thick with tension. Wayne tried to clear his head, but the ominous feeling refused to leave, as if something terrible was about to happen.

As the team advanced towards the enemy headquarters, Wayne's mind kept drifting. He couldn't stop thinking about Jisoo, about the last phone call they'd shared. The way her voice had trembled ever so slightly, though she had tried to hide it.

Suddenly, there was a flicker of movement to his left. Wayne's eyes snapped to the source, but just a fraction of a second too late. An enemy combatant, hidden in the shadows, had spotted them. Before Wayne could react, a gunshot rang out, piercing the still night.

"Ambush!" someone shouted, and all hell broke loose.

Gunfire erupted from every direction, bullets whizzing past their heads, thudding into the walls and ground around them. The night exploded into chaos-screams, the deafening roar of grenades, and the acrid smell of smoke filled the air.

Wayne's heart raced as he realized the mistake he'd made. He'd been too distracted, too unfocused. His team was caught in a deadly crossfire, and it was his fault. The enemy had the upper hand now, and they were paying the price.

"Fall back!" Wayne yelled, his voice cutting through the chaos. "Retreat! Now!"

The team scrambled to retreat, but the enemy fire was relentless. Wayne could see his comrades falling one by one, their cries echoing in his ears. The ground shook as a bomb went off nearby, the shockwave sending him sprawling.

Amidst the chaos, Wayne struggled to get up, his vision blurring as pain shot through his body. He could barely make out the forms of his teammates around him, some lying still, others desperately trying to fight back.

As Wayne's vision dimmed, he felt a pair of strong arms grab him, dragging him across the ground. His head lolled to the side, and through the haze, he saw BamBam's determined face.

"You're going to survive this, Wayne," BamBam's voice was strained but resolute. "You have to. For your sister. She needs you."

Wayne tried to respond, but the words wouldn't come. His body was shutting down, the pain too much to bear. But BamBam's words echoed in his mind, a final anchor to reality as darkness closed in around him.

"For Jisoo..." Wayne thought, his consciousness slipping away. The last thing he saw was BamBam's face, and then everything went black.

Wayne awoke in a sterile room, the smell of antiseptic stinging his nose. His body ached all over, and as he tried to move, a sharp pain shot through his side, causing him to wince. He was bandaged up, his wounds freshly treated.

It took a moment for reality to sink in. The mission. The ambush. The retreat. He had failed. The memory hit him like a truck, and panic surged through him as he remembered his team, his friends.

Forcing himself out of bed, Wayne stumbled to the door, his legs weak beneath him. He needed to find out what had happened, to know if anyone had made it out alive.

As he approached the command room, he heard voices-his superior, speaking in hushed tones with another officer. He paused just outside, hidden from view but close enough to hear.

"We can't tell him," the officer was saying. "He's already lost too much. The team... they're all gone. And now his sister..."

Wayne's blood ran cold. His heart pounded in his chest as he strained to listen, dreading the next words.

"Kim Jisoo," his superior said slowly, the weight of the words heavy in the air. "She... she took her own life. It happened just after the mission failed. He can't know yet. Not now."

The world seemed to tilt beneath Wayne's feet. His breath caught in his throat, the words echoing in his mind like a death knell. Jisoo... gone? It couldn't be true. It couldn't.

But deep down, he knew it was. The dread that had haunted him all day had been real, a premonition of this very moment. His sister, the only family he had left, was gone.

Wayne burst through the doors, not caring about the startled looks of the officers. His legs carried him on autopilot as he ran outside, towards the loading area where the bodies of his fallen teammates were being prepared for transport.

The rain had begun to fall, a torrential downpour that soaked everything in minutes. Wayne stumbled to a halt as he saw the rows of bodies, each one covered in a tarp, waiting to be returned to their families.

His knees buckled beneath him as he approached BamBam's body, the weight of his grief and guilt crushing him. He collapsed to the ground beside his fallen friend, the rain mixing with the tears streaming down his face.

"I'm sorry," Wayne choked out, his voice barely audible over the pounding rain. "I'm so sorry..."

He cried, his heart breaking under the unbearable weight of his losses. The screams of his team, the image of Jisoo's smiling face, now forever lost to him, haunted his mind. He had failed them all-his team, his sister, his family.

The sky wept with him, the rain falling in heavy sheets, as if the heavens themselves mourned the tragedy that had befallen him. Wayne remained there, on his knees, his body shaking with sobs as he clutched BamBam's hand, his tears mixing with the rain.

He had lost everything. And now, he was truly alone.
