Still a child

Jisung walked past the open sliding doors, not paying attention to anything happening around him until something, or rather someone, caught his eye.

"Ryo, what are you doing?" Jisung wondered. Ryo quickly dropped the switchblade on the floor and Jisung got a good look at it.

"Hirose Ryo! Why do you have that? Is that Jeno-hyungs?!" Jisung walked out, picking up the blade. It did, in fact, belong to Jeno. Jisung had no idea how Ryo had gotten it but that didn't matter. Jisung had caught Ryo, not only with something that wasn't his but a sharp object on top of that, and it was his responsibility to deal with it.

"What is going on out here?" Mark walked past, coming outside. Jisung felt a small bite of annoyance. Why is that someone was always around when he was about to scold the kids?

"Don't let him spank me, Mark-samchon!" Ryo hid behind Mark.

"Spank you? Why would Jisung do that?" Mark looked between the two kids confused.

"I caught him with this" Jisung admitted, trying to keep the irritation out of his voice. Mark took the switchblade, a hint of disappointment on his face.

"Ryo-" Mark sighed.

"I was just curious!" Ryo argued. Mark took his hand, looking at Jisung.

"Will you give us a moment?" Mark motioned for Jisung to go inside but the teen didn't move except to cross his arms.

"Jisung, go inside please" Mark repeated more firmly.

"I had it handled" Jisung argued.

"Jisung. Go inside" Mark repeated again. Jisung gritted his teeth but went inside anyway, knowing that it would do no good to argue. He slammed the door to his room, flopping down on the bed. Chenle looked up from his computer and Jaemin turned over, looking down.

"Someone's in a bad mood" Jaemin teased.

"Shut up" Jisung rolled his eyes.

"Hey, I'm still your hyung. Don't talk to me like that" Jaemin reminded him. Jisung threw his pillow at the oldest maknae.

"What is it with everyone and thinking that being older makes them better?! You're two years older, big deal!" Jisung snapped. Jaemin caught the pillow, shocked. Jisung had never yelled at anyone before.

"Alright, sorry for saying anything" Jaemin threw the pillow back, hitting Jisung in the face and went back to talking to his girlfriend. Chenle kept watching his dongsaeng, worried.

"What?" Jisung glared.

"Did something happen?" Chenle wondered, genuinely concerned. Jisung noticed and calmed down a little.

"Ryo was playing with Jeno-hyung's switchblade and I was going to scold him for it but of course, Mark-hyung had to intervene just like always! How are the boys supposed to respect any of us as their hyungs if someone always interferes!?" Jisung didn't mean to raise his voice, his frustration controlling him.

"Well in some situations, it's better if Mark-hyung gets involved. Especially if one of the boys is playing with a sharp object" Jaemin pointed out, texting his girlfriend that he had to deal with something and setting his phone down.

"But I'm the one who caught him! Why shouldn't I have been the one to handle it?" Jisung shook his head. Jaemin rolled his eyes, finding the whole conversation to be ridiculous.

"Yeah. Since when have you, I or Jaemin ever been allowed to handle things like that? There's a difference between giving them a timeout or sending them to their rooms but you know it's a rule that anything more has to be reported to the hyungs" Chenle added. Deep down, Jisung knew they were both making really good points. And he hated it.
