"Ah, no music. I can't believe we forgot to bring tunes." Lorelai says and Aurelia briefly glances up from her book before looking back down as she turns the page, trying to ignore the bag digging into her side. She had no idea why she'd been the one sequestered to the back.
Okay, so, she totally did and it was definitely because at the first stop they made, she'd asked a question about whether or not she'd told Max and then followed it up with a question about whether the decision had anything to do with Christopher. And Lorelai hadn't liked either question all that much. But she still didn't understand why she'd been relegated to the backseat.
"Do you realise that none of us have the vaguest idea where we are?" Rory asks.
"What is a road trip without tunes?" Lorelai asks and Aurelia rolls her eyes.
"The sun is directly behind us." Rory says, leaning forwards to look out the back window.
"Never been in this car for any extended period of time without playing AC/DC." Lorelai says.
"But I have no idea which way it's going." Rory says.
"I need my 'Highway to Hell'." Lorelai says and Aurelia looks between the two of them with a slight frown.
"It's right out the windshield there." Rory says, looking back down at the map in her lap.
"Nothing on the radio but Top 40 and Christian Rock. Christian Rock, there's an oxymoron for you. I need my tunes." Lorelai says, banging her hand on the steering wheel.
"Stop complaining about the tunes." Rory says.
"Stop complaining about our whereabouts." Lorelai counters.
"Well, my complaint is legitimate. Yours is infantile." Rory argues.
"Okay, you're right." Lorelai says before turning on the radio.
'Non-stop country!'
"Oh, God." Aurelia groans.
"Oh, wee-ha! Yes! Country music. Must be my lucky day." Lorelai remarks as Rory reaches over to turn the radio off.
"We have to figure out where we're going." Rory says.
"No, we don't." Lorelai responds.
"Mom."
"The point of this is to be spontaneous. To drive and land someplace we've never been and never expected to be." Lorelai says.
"Sounds risky." Rory remarks.
"Sounds exciting." Lorelai amends.
"Serendipity has never been kind to us." Rory says and Aurelia taps her finger against the back cover of her book.
"Yes, but I talked to serendipity on the phone last night. She feels bad about how she's treated us in the past. We had a nice chat. It's all gonna be different now." Lorelai says before Rory's head whips around briefly.
"What did that sign say? It said 'Don't' or 'Death' on it." Rory says.
"Relax." Lorelai says.
"We're doomed." Rory says.
