Chapter 1

"Lisa, sweetheart, I have something important to tell you."
Mom said.

"What is it, mom?"
I asked interested.

"You know I've been seeing Mr. Kim for a while now, and we've decided to take our relationship to the next step."

I, hesitantly but supportively
"You mean...you're getting married?"

My mother smiles at my reaction and nods.

"Yes, darling. We're getting married."

I was silent for a moment, absorbing the news. I wasn't entirely surprised, having seen their growing closeness over the past few months. But a part of me can't help feeling a pang of sadness, remembering my late father.

I, trying to sound positive
"That's... great, mom. Mr. Kim seems like a nice guy."

Mother sensed my mixed feelings and puts a comforting hand on my shoulder.

"I know this is a big change for you, Lisa. And I understand if you're feeling conflicted."

I looked up at her, seeing the mixture of excitement and nervousness in her eyes. Despite her own emotions, she wants to be supportive.

I, giving a small but sincere smile
"I'm happy for you, mom. Really. I just need some time to get used to the idea."

Mother gave me a knowing smile, understanding my need to adjust.

"Of course, sweetheart. Take all the time you need."

She then leans in and gives me a warm hug. I returned the embrace, feeling a mix of comfort and uncertainty.

I, leaning my head against her shoulder "I just... I don't want things to change between us."

She rubs my back reassuringly.

"Nothing will change between us, Lisa. I'm still your mom. That will never change, no matter what happens."

I nod, feeling a little better. But a nagging thought persists in the back of my mind.

I, hesitantly:
"What about Jisoo and Jennie, are they in favourof this?"

"You should just call Jisoo and ask her!"

I nodded and called her.

"Hey Jisoo, I just spoke to my mom and she told me some exciting news..."

"I know!!! Dad told me!!!"

"So are you happy!?"

"Of course! I can't believe they finally thought about it!!"

Lisa can't help but laugh at Jisoo's enthusiasm. Her excitement is infectious.

"I know, it's so exciting! I can't believe it's happening finallyafter dating for more than 2 years."

"Now you're stuck with me forever."

I grin. I can't imagine anyone better to be stuck with.

Jisoo continues to chatter excitedly on the phone. I can picture the wide grin on her face.

"I mean, we've been like sisters for years, but now it's official!"
Jisoo said excitedly.

"I know, it feels surreal."

Jisoo pauses for a moment, the tone of her voice becoming more serious.
"Your mom deserves happiness, and so do my dad, they are perfect for each other."

I nod, understanding Jisoo's sentiment.

"Yeah, what about Jennie? How's she feeling about the marriage?"
