Manjiro's Pov
2017
In the back of a black 2017 Cadillac Escalade ESV, a car often used for high-profile security and VIP transport, I sat at the edge of my seat, my heart pounding wildly as panic surged through my veins.
The luxurious yet imposing interior, designed for the safety and comfort of celebrities, offered little comfort to the storm of emotions raging within me.
My knuckles were white as I gripped the armrest, my eyes locked on the road ahead, every muscle in my body tense with urgency.
"Drive faster!"
I shouted at my personal driver, my voice trembling with desperation.Time felt like it was slipping away, and every second on the road felt like an eternity.
Inside the vehicle, the soft glow of the mini TV screen illuminated the dim interior, casting a faint light on my worried face.
The news anchor's voice was calm, almost detached, in stark contrast to the chaos that was unfolding in my mind.
"Breaking news,"
the anchor announced, her tone steady."Allegedly, Olympic star Akamaki [Name] has suffered a severe injury during practice—Sources report that she is currently in critical condition at a local hospital.
The extent of her injuries remains unclear, but it is feared that she may not be able to compete in this year's Olympics."My breath caught in my throat as the words echoed in my mind, each sentence landing like a blow to the chest.
The reality of the situation was sinking in, and the fear that had been gnawing at the edges of my consciousness now threatened to consume me entirely. Her name..... that had become synonymous with grace and strength, now lay in a hospital bed, her dreams of Olympic glory hanging by a thread.
'This is all my fault...'
The streets outside blurred as we sped toward the hospital, the city's lights flashing past the windows like a dizzying array of stars.
I could feel the weight of the situation pressing down on me, a heavy, suffocating feeling that made it hard to breathe. The thought of her, alone and in pain, was unbearable. I had to be there. I had to see her, to offer whatever comfort I could, even if it was just to hold her hand and let her know she wasn't alone.
My mind was racing, filled with a thousand what-ifs and scenarios, each more terrifying than the last.
What if she never skated again? What if this was the end of her career, of everything she had worked so hard to achieve?
