The lab was alive with quiet energy as Surya and Ling sat at a large worktable, surrounded by research notes, charts, and data models. The Coral Farming Enhancement Project had been their focus for months, a labor of love that combined their expertise in marine biology and environmental science. Their goal was simple but ambitious: to develop a more resilient strain of coral that could withstand rising ocean temperatures and acidity, thereby helping to restore the fragile reef ecosystems around Coral Island.

Surya leaned over a set of graphs, carefully analyzing the recent data they had collected. "The growth rate has improved significantly since we started incorporating the new nutrient blend," he remarked, tracing a line on the graph with his finger. "If we can maintain this trend, the coral colonies should reach maturity within a few months."

Ling nodded, her eyes bright with interest. "That's promising. And the symbiotic algae we've introduced seem to be thriving as well. If this holds, it could be a game-changer for coral restoration efforts, not just here but globally."

"I think if we adjust the nutrient input slightly based on the seasonality data, we might see faster coral regeneration," Surya suggested, tapping a spot on the blueprint.

Ling nodded thoughtfully. "That makes sense. We could integrate that into the next phase of testing. If we refine the water flow mechanisms too, it could maximize the nutrient distribution. The results so far have been promising."

Surya smiled, feeling a renewed sense of purpose. "It's amazing to see it all come together after so much work. The initial setbacks were frustrating, but I think we're finally on the right track."

Ling glanced at the calendar on the wall, mentally calculating their timeline. "Two more weeks until the final data collection," she mused. "That puts us right on schedule." Her gaze lingered on the calendar for a moment longer, her brow furrowing slightly. "Wait a minute... Fall 25th. Isn't that your birthday, Surya?"

Surya blinked, momentarily caught off guard. "Oh, right. I guess it is," he said, rubbing the back of his neck with a sheepish smile. "I haven't really thought about it."

Ling looked at him curiously. "Do you have any plans? Are you going back to Jakarta to visit your dad?"

Surya hesitated. "I'm not sure yet. I was thinking of inviting my dad here, but I haven't made any arrangements. It feels strange to think about celebrating when... well, after everything that happened."

Ling's expression softened with understanding. "I can imagine. It's been a difficult year for you. Whatever you decide to do, just remember it's okay to take time for yourself, too. Take a leave maybe? You've been working hard, Surya, and you deserve a break."

Surya nodded appreciatively. "Thanks, Ling. I'll think about it."

A few days later, Ling found herself on Isabel's farm, delivering an order of auto-feeders. The sun was high in the sky, casting a warm glow over the neatly tended fields and the bustling farm animals. Isabel was out in the barn when Ling arrived, a warm smile spreading across her face as she saw the auto-feeders being unloaded.

"Hi, Isabel," Ling greeted her cheerfully. "Dropping off the auto-feeders you ordered."

Isabel's eyes widened with excitement as she approached. "Thank you, Ling! These are amazing! I'll finish the payment right after I set them up."

Ling waved her hand dismissively. "No rush. I'm glad you like them. They should make things easier for you around here."

Isabel nodded, already imagining how much time she'd save. "Definitely. With the farm growing, it's been a challenge to keep up with all the chores. These will help a lot."
