A living, breathing amoeba of reporters chased after the tall figure running down the sprawling steps of the courthouse, chanting as if one voice.
"Carter. Carter. Care to comment? Where is Miss Harlow? What did you do with her? Where is your secretary? Where is she?"
And the moment I saw him, cowering in a huddle of bodyguards, his handsome face downcast, being bundled into a dark-tinted SUV without a single word, I knew it.
I knew the day I meet Carter face to face, I was going to do one of three things:
1) I was going to be charmed by him, the way many before me were, including my sister,
2) I was going to get the confession I want, enough to put him behind bars, or
3) I was going to kill him.More likely kill him, especially if said confession reveals what I believe happened. He did something to my sister. He was the one responsible for her disappearance.
There was never going to be an in-between.
But nothing could have prepared me for the man behind that name. Nothing could have prepared me for him.
Nothing.
A/N: A new story is coming later this year. It's something I've fiddled with for some time, on and off, and even posted variations of it before. I've never made it past ten or so chapters because pantsing this story has proved impossible until now. Hopeful, the third time is a charm and in a new perspective.
Add the story to your library and be notified when chapters drop. I hope you're as excited as I am. 🙌❤️
