Chapter 13 - Jungkook

The morning sun bathed the village of Daegu in a warm... golden glow as Yoongi... Taehyung... and Hoseok set out for a leisurely walk through the winding cobblestone streets... The previous evening's encounter had left Yoongi with a sense of peace he hadn't felt in a long time... and the companionship of Taehyung only deepened that feeling... Hoseok... ever the vigilant knight... trailed slightly behind... his eyes scanning the surroundings with practiced ease...

As they walked... the conversation flowed effortlessly... Taehyung... with his innate curiosity and love for the simple things in life... spoke animatedly about the village... sharing tales of its history and the people who called it home... Yoongi listened intently... finding himself more and more enchanted by the younger male's infectious enthusiasm and genuine warmth...

Hoseok... however... couldn't shake the feeling that something was amiss... His senses... honed by years of training and experience... picked up on a subtle disturbance in the air... It was a feeling of being watched... of an unseen presence lurking just beyond their sight... He discreetly began to lag behind... allowing Yoongi and Taehyung to continue their conversation without interruption...

His suspicions were confirmed when he caught sight of a shadow flitting between the trees lining the path... The figure moved with a stealth that only someone trained in the art of evasion could possess... Hoseok's heart quickened as he recognized the pattern of movement—it was familiar... too familiar...

Without alerting Yoongi or Taehyung... Hoseok silently broke away from the group... slipping into the trees to follow the shadow... The pursuit was brief but intense... the figure leading him deeper into the woods before finally coming to a stop... Hoseok's hand instinctively went to the hilt of his sword as he approached... ready for anything...

But as the figure turned... stepping out from the shadows... Hoseok's breath caught in his throat... Standing before him... dressed in a black outfit that covered him from head to toe... was none other than Jungkook—the Prince of Busan... Yoongi's betrothed... and Hoseok's former lover...

A cheeky smile played on Jungkook's lips as he met Hoseok's gaze... his eyes sparkling with mischief... "It's been a while... Hobi..." he said... his voice smooth and familiar... yet tinged with something that made Hoseok's heart ache...

Hoseok's grip on his sword relaxed... but the tension in his body remained... "Jungkook..." he replied... his tone guarded... "What are you doing here? Why are you following us?"

Jungkook shrugged casually... as if their encounter was the most natural thing in the world... "I could ask you the same thing... Disguised as a commoner... playing the role of protector—how very you... Hobi..." His eyes flicked to where Yoongi and Taehyung had been... now out of sight... "I was curious about who could possibly have captivated the great Prince Yoongi's attention so thoroughly... Imagine my surprise when I saw you two together..."

Hoseok's jaw tightened... a storm of emotions swirling within him... Seeing Jungkook again brought back a flood of memories—of the love they had shared... of the pain of their separation... "You shouldn't be here..." he said... trying to keep his voice steady... "You're putting yourself in danger... and Yoongi... Yoongi doesn't need any more complications..."

Jungkook's smile faltered slightly... a flicker of hurt passing through his eyes before he masked it with a nonchalant expression... "Complications? Is that what I am now... Hobi?" He stepped closer... his voice dropping to a whisper... "You and I both know there's more to this than just a betrothal... There's more to us..."

Hoseok's heart twisted... but he forced himself to stay focused... "Things have changed... Jungkook... You're the Prince of Busan... and Yoongi is... he's your fiancé... You shouldn't be sneaking around like this..."
