Monday at school came with a buzz of activity, but Emily’s mind was preoccupied with the events of the previous weekend. As she walked down the bustling hallway, she caught sight of Cole Matthews leaning against a locker, waiting for her. His eyes locked onto her as she approached.

“Hey, beautiful,” Cole said with a smooth, confident grin. He pushed off from the locker and stepped closer, his gaze lingering over her.

Emily felt a slight rush of anxiety as he neared. “Hi, Cole,” she replied, forcing a relaxed tone into her voice.

Cole didn’t seem to notice her discomfort. Instead, he moved in even closer, his hand brushing lightly against her waist. “I just wanted to say I had a really good time with you on Friday,” he said, his eyes scanning her face with an intensity that made her uneasy. “And, I have to say, you have a nice body.”

Emily tensed at his touch, her heart pounding. She tried to maintain a composed demeanor, though she felt a flush of embarrassment creeping up her cheeks. “Yeah, I had a good time too,” she responded, her voice steady. “It was definitely an interesting night.”

Cole’s hand lingered on her waist for a moment longer before he finally pulled it away. He seemed satisfied with her response, his smirk widening. “Glad to hear it. Maybe we can hang out again sometime, just the two of us?” he suggested, his tone hinting at more than just friendly intentions.

Emily forced herself to meet his gaze, trying to project a casual demeanor despite her racing thoughts. “We’ll see,” she replied, attempting to keep her voice light and non-committal.

As Cole moved away, he gave her a casual wave and strolled off, leaving Emily alone with her thoughts. She took a deep breath, trying to shake off the lingering discomfort of his touch and the weight of his words. It was clear that navigating this new social terrain was going to be more challenging than she had anticipated.
