EPILOGUE

I woke up with a start, my breaths coming quickly and unevenly. My eyes darted around the room, adjusting to the dim light. I was in a bed, connected to an oxygen mask and wrapped in bandages. The sterile scent of antiseptic filled my nostrils, mingling with the faint hum of medical machinery

This place doesn't look like a hospital room. Where am I?

My vision was still blurry. The door to my room creaked open, and I saw the agent standing by the door. He approached the bedside and spoke softly, "Oh, you're finally awake, Kevin. How are you feeling?"

I managed to reply, my voice raspy and weak. "Not good. Where am I?"

The agent continued, "You're at one of the agency's secret bases, far away from your city." he said. "After your fight last week, you sustained severe injuries and collapsed due to the poison, but we managed to staunch the bleeding and administered the antidote to counter its effects."

I blinked a few times, trying to process his words. "Last week?" I asked, my voice weak and hoarse. He nodded, a look of concern on his face.
"Yeah, you've been out for a whole week.

"Where is Sasha? And Jake? Tell me quickly."

He took a pause, his voice still cold and detached, before continuing.

"Dead. The secret society assassins attacked your house before we got there. Sasha was killed and Jake's body is missing, most likely killed as well. Grace's head was...also found at the scene. The police found guns and daggers in your room and are currently on the hunt for you, considering you the prime suspect. Also, Luna Turner was found murdered in her apartment , and they think you're responsible for her death as well. I'm not sure what more to tell you, this whole situation."

This can't be happening... not Sasha, not Jake. This can't be real. It's too much. I can't breathe, I can't think, I can't move. My chest hurts, my head hurts, my whole body hurts.

My breaths came in short, sharp gasps , my heart raced, pounding against my chest as a wave of panic washed over me. My skin felt clammy, and I broke out in a cold sweat. My vision blurred as my entire body trembled uncontrollably. I stumbled back to the bed, clutching at my chest trying to physically hold myself together. I could hear the sound of the agent urgently calling for help.

"I'm okay now," I said, my voice steadier. "Just needed a minute to catch my breath." He remained silent for a moment, studying me warily. Eventually, he spoke up, his tone tinged with disbelief."Are you sure?" he asked. "You were just having a full-blown panic attack."

"I will be fine."

But why me? Why am I of all people still alive? Maybe it would be better if I just faded away. What's the point of me living anymore? I could just end it all. It would be easier than living this shitty life.

The agent's words cut through the whirlwind of emotions in my mind like a beacon of light. "You still have two reasons to keep going in life. Avenge them...make them pay," he said, his voice filled with a deep, burning determination. "And follow your father's path, become one of ours, to destroy the Secret Society that took everything from you. And Amber..."

"Amber...?" I whispered softly

The agent looked at me with a serious expression. "Amber's with her dad, and you have to save her. But you can't do it right now. The whole world sees you as a wanted criminal-maybe even Amber, after they've likely gaslighted her. You're strong, kid, but you need to be stronger, far stronger, because this Secret Society is something else entirely, especially the boss. I guess Thomas foresaw this and trained you for the future."

I nodded silently and he gave a small smile and said, "We'll do the paper works later but since you're officially a member now, I can tell you my name-Lucas Reed." He paused for a moment before adding, "And the one who's going to be your partner is..."

Lucas snapped his fingers, and the door swung open. A girl stepped inside, and my eyes widened as I recognized her immediately. She was the one who saved me that night.

Lucas continued, "Her name's Serena Grey."

She glanced at me, a smile on her lips. "Hey, handsome."
