Let's talk about writing block!
Writing block is simply defined as when a writer finds themself unable to move forward with the writing process.
CAUSATION:
Try finding the cause of your writing block. It can be literally anything, believe me.
Some examples are low motivation, lack of insufficient sleep, inspiration, or exposure to new material.
I find that reading some new stories- fanfiction, actual books, whatever- can be really helpful for gaining inspiration. That's how I got over my 5 month writing block, but remember "getting over" writer's block will most likely not be instant or super easy to achieve, and it will be frustrating to overcome regardless. (Believe me.)
HOW DO YOU BEAT THIS THING??
There are a lot of causations of writer's block, but even more ways to conquer it. Allow me to share with you a list:
LOOK AT OTHER'S WRITING STYLES/EXECUTION
STOP DOING DRUGS, JUST TRY TO TAKE DEEP BREATHS AND GO ON WALKS
In all seriousness, it is usually best to have a clear mind while you're writing, but you can do whatever you want as long as you edit that weird child orgy sewer scene out, Stephen
WHAT USED TO GIVE YOU MOTIVATION?
Look over your old writing, however cringey it may be. Think about why you used to write, if you ever have. Which books inspire you? Which authors inspire you?
TAKE TIME AWAY FROM WRITING
If your main method to write is forcing yourself, you probably won't consistently get a very good outcome
WRITE WITH MUSIC
Listening to music is scientifically proven to be helpful alongside a lot of tasks, and writing is one of them. Careful not to listen to music that gets you super hyped, because that will distract you lol.
DON'T MULTITASK WHILE TRYING TO WRITE
The term "multitask" is used pretty broadly here; Basically, anything that takes conscious effort to think about will distract you from writing.
Anyway, let me know if you need some more specific ideas for stopping writer's block!!
