The morning sun streamed through the curtains of Y/N's hotel room, casting a warm glow across the bed. He stirred awake, his body still slightly sore from the previous night’s match, but the ache was a reminder of the victory he had earned. As he stretched out, the events of the night before played in his mind—the thrill of the debut, the battle with Orange Cassidy, and the unexpected yet meaningful connection with Skye Blue.
Rolling out of bed, Y/N padded over to the window, pulling back the curtains to take in the view of the city. It was still early, and the streets were just beginning to wake up, the morning rush starting to build. He had a full day ahead of him, but for the first time in a while, he felt grounded, as if the chaos of his new career in AEW was finally aligning into something tangible and real.
After a quick shower, Y/N dressed in casual athletic wear and grabbed his phone to check his messages. There were a few texts from family and friends, congratulating him on his debut and sending their support. He smiled as he read through them, replying with thanks and assurances that he’d keep pushing forward.
Among the messages, there was one from Skye.
Skye: Hey, hope you slept well! I’m heading to the gym for a light workout this morning. Wanna join me?
Y/N considered the offer for a moment. A workout sounded like a good way to start the day, especially with Skye there to keep him company.
Y/N: Morning! I’m in. Where should I meet you?
Skye: Awesome! There’s a great gym not too far from here. I’ll send you the address. See you there in about 30 minutes?
Y/N: Sounds good, see you soon!
After receiving the address, Y/N grabbed his duffel bag, stuffed it with the essentials, and headed out. The walk to the gym was pleasant, the morning air crisp and invigorating. As he neared the location, he spotted the gym—a sleek, modern facility that catered to both hardcore athletes and casual fitness enthusiasts.
Skye was already there when he arrived, stretching by the entrance. She looked up as he approached, a bright smile spreading across her face. “Hey! Ready to get your sweat on?”
“Always,” Y/N replied, matching her smile as they headed inside.
The gym was bustling with activity, but it wasn’t overcrowded. They found a spot in the back where they could warm up and plan their workout. Skye suggested starting with some light cardio before moving on to strength training, and Y/N was more than happy to follow her lead.
As they jogged side by side on treadmills, they chatted about their plans for the day. Skye had a photoshoot later in the afternoon, and Y/N had a meeting with AEW management to discuss his next steps in the company.
“You nervous about the meeting?” Skye asked, her pace steady as she glanced over at him.
“A little,” Y/N admitted. “I mean, last night went well, but I know there’s a lot more to prove. I just want to make sure I’m heading in the right direction.”
“You are,” Skye said firmly, her tone leaving no room for doubt. “Trust me, they wouldn’t have put you in that match if they didn’t see something special in you. Just keep doing what you’re doing, and everything will fall into place.”
Y/N appreciated her confidence in him. “Thanks, Skye. It really helps having someone like you around.”
“Hey, we’re all in this together,” she replied with a shrug, though there was a sincerity in her eyes that spoke volumes. “And besides, I’m excited to see what you do next.”
They finished their cardio and moved on to strength training, pushing each other through sets of weights, bodyweight exercises, and resistance training. It was clear that Skye was in peak condition—her form was flawless, and she moved with the kind of ease that came from years of disciplined training. Y/N found himself both challenged and inspired, pushing himself harder with each rep.
After an intense hour, they cooled down with some stretching and light banter. The atmosphere between them was comfortable, their camaraderie growing stronger with each interaction. It was the kind of partnership that felt natural, built on mutual respect and a shared love for their craft.
As they wrapped up their workout, Skye suggested grabbing a quick smoothie before they went their separate ways for the day. Y/N agreed, and they headed to a nearby juice bar where they ordered protein-packed smoothies to refuel after their session.
Sitting at a small table by the window, they sipped their drinks, the conversation turning to more personal topics—family, life on the road, and the sacrifices they’d both made to pursue their dreams.
“You ever think about where you’d be if you weren’t wrestling?” Skye asked, her tone contemplative as she swirled her straw in her drink.
Y/N thought for a moment, then shook his head. “Not really. Wrestling’s always been my passion. I can’t imagine doing anything else. What about you?”
“Same,” Skye admitted with a small smile. “But sometimes, I wonder what it would be like to have a ‘normal’ life, you know? A regular job, a stable routine… but then I remember how much I love this, and all those thoughts just disappear.”
“Yeah, I get that,” Y/N said, nodding in agreement. “It’s a tough life, but it’s worth it.”
They finished their smoothies and stepped back out into the sunlight, the day now fully underway. Skye glanced at her phone, checking the time. “I should probably head out—gotta get ready for that photoshoot.”
“Good luck with it,” Y/N said, giving her a friendly pat on the shoulder. “And thanks for the workout. I really needed that.”
“Anytime,” Skye replied with a grin. “We’ll have to make this a regular thing. It’s nice having someone to train with.”
“For sure,” Y/N agreed. “Maybe next time, I’ll pick the workout.”
“Oh, it’s on,” Skye laughed, already looking forward to their next session. “Take care, Y/N. I’ll see you around.”
With a final wave, she headed off down the street, her confident stride showing no signs of fatigue despite the intense workout they’d just finished. Y/N watched her go, feeling a sense of contentment wash over him. It was still early in his AEW journey, but with friends like Skye by his side, he knew he was on the right path.
Turning on his heel, Y/N made his way toward the AEW headquarters for his meeting, his mind already focused on the future. There were challenges ahead, no doubt about it, but for the first time in a long while, he felt ready to face them head-on.
With each step he took, the weight of uncertainty lifted, replaced by a growing sense of purpose. This was just the beginning, and Y/N was determined to make the most of every opportunity that came his way.
