The atmosphere was about a negative ten right now. Kiyomi wanted nothing more than to ball up and bawl her eyes out. She didn't want to stress and harm her son, but her nerves were through the roof and has been since threw up in the parking lot. The second they got here A'shaun managed to talk to a nurse who let him know she would find out the status on Semaj while they sat in the waiting room.

He also called Saniyah who was already a teary eyed mess but just a few minutes away. She found out pretty much when they did, her and Kiyomi thinking alike by checking hospitals.

"You good?"

Snapping back to reality, she didn't even turn to look to at A'shaun, she just shook her head no and let the tears drop.

"–man," A'shaun reached up, giving his eyes a squeeze before his too became filled with tears.

To think how it all started.

They were literally attached to the hip at one point. All he wanted to do was spend his time with her no matter what dumb shit she made him do. She loved to be in this boys skin.

As much as she wanted nothing to do with him when he found out about her pregnancy, she couldn't help but mentally prey that there wasn't too much damage and everything was going to be ok and be would be here to see the growth of their son. Together or not, she could see the change in Semaj when it came to baby.

Breaking the aching silence, the same nurse A'shaun had spoke with a bag with what looked like some of Semaj's belongings. "You guys can follow me," she gave a sincere smile as she handed the bag over.

They instantly got up and Kiyomi went to reach for the bag but A'shaun grabbed it.

The lady scanned her badge before the entered the double doors and down a long hall. "Sorry I wanted to get to a more quiet area–"

"How is he?"

"Despite the circumstances, Mr. Wright is actually doing great right now–" Kiyomi wanted to let out a cry of relief but she knew it was more to it, "—he just got out of surgery not too long ago and there are some officers who would like to speak with you, they can probably give you more information about the incident. He does have a total of five wounds, two in the upper right shoulder and another right below. Two in the lower left leg and one in the left or right hip,"

Kiyomi bit her lip.

"Depending on how he feels after surgery since nothing was majorly broken, he will be able to go home within a few hours," she stopped at a door with the number twenty six on it. "The officers are in the lobby but I'll give you guys some time to see him before I send them back," she motioned that they were good to go in.

Kiyomi stepped to the side, having A'shaun go first because she didn't know if she was ready to see him the way he is. A'shaun didn't give her much time to prep, instantly opening the door
and making his way towards Semaj.

Taking a deep breath and ignoring the tears that overwhelmed her eyes, she walked in and the first thing her ears focused on was the beeping machine monitoring his body. Then she really took the time to look at Semaj. They pulled his dreads out his face and into a low pony, his dry lips one of the second things the noticed.

The areas the nurse had named off were indeed patched up and cleaned, evidence that he did just come out of a successful surgery. Knowing he was going to be ok for the most part definitely calmed her nerves and even actually seeing him.

Neither of them said anything, just allowing the silence to handle the situation. At least he looked peaceful lying here. It wasn't until a few moments later there were three taps on the door and in peeked an officer. A'shaun instantly jumped up, going to see what happened while Kiyomi decided sit there with Semaj.

Soon as the door closed, she walked by his side and took a hold of his hand, careful not to wake him incase he wasn't ready. She lifted her top just enough to reveal her belly and placed his hand on her skin even though his body temperature was crazy cold. It took just a few seconds for her to start feeling her baby's kicks and flutters. Kiyomi smiled, holding back even more tears.

"Say, we need you," she whispered, hoping him feeling the movement would give him some type of comfort and let him know they were here for him.

A few more seconds passed before she felt his fingers tense up against her belly but then relax a little more. Her eyes darted up to see Semaj waking from his slumber. The first thing he tried to do was sit up but Kiyomi instantly gently tried her best to lay him back down. "You're ok," she tried not to panic, afraid he was going to hurt himself. "Lay back,"

He managed to get his eyes open and adjust to the lighting in the room before looking up and probably realizing it was indeed Kiyomi. His whole body relaxed, hand still on her belly which her started to rub. "Fuck," he croaked.

"Relax," she sniffed, running her hands down his face. "You're in the hospital, you just had surgery, you gotta' relax Semaj,"

Her familiar touch was soothing, his eyes closing once again as he took a couple deep breaths. Kiyomi leaned down, pressing her lips to his forehead. "Shaun is outside talking to some police and Saniyah should be finding her way here,"

"Them young niggas finna' die," his voice was hoarse. "They ain't think to leave a nigga some water?" the attitude dripped off his tongue.

"Shut up before they hear something you don't need to be saying," she had to call in the nurse in order for him to get water. "I need to grab someone to bring you what you can have right now," hopefully some apple juice to rejuvenate his body and give him a little sugar.

"Can I have a kiss first?" He didn't care if his lis were dry as he didn't know what. Kiyomi didn't either, swiping her own tongue over her lips before leaning in to connect theirs. She was careful of where she placed herself, not wanting to lean on him too much or have him lean too far up. "One more,"

She reconnected their lips, this time leaving them to linger for a bit. Ugh, she hated everything was this way. "They're going to want to talk to you so be as cordial as possible please,"

"Man, they need to let me go home,"

Not being able to hear his voice so croaky, she kissed his forehead one more time before letting him know she would be right back. Soon as she steppes foot out the door she was met by the officers and a heated A'shaun. "He's awake,"
