Kaiden had always admired Konata Izumi from afar. She was bright, cheerful, and unlike anyone he had ever met. So when she approached him after school that day, he could hardly believe it.
"Kaiden," Konata said with a shy smile, "Would you like to go out with me sometime?"
Kaiden's heart nearly leapt out of his chest. "Really? I'd love to!" he blurted out, his face beaming with excitement.
They agreed to meet up that weekend, and Kaiden spent the rest of the day floating on air, hardly able to believe his luck. But when he got home, his joy was short-lived.
He noticed his bedroom door slightly open. As he pushed it further, his heart sank. There, in the middle of his room, were Konata and Joe Ninja—his best friend—locked in a passionate kiss.
Kaiden felt his world collapse around him. Without a word, he turned and fled, tears streaming down his face. He ran as fast as he could, his heart breaking with every step, unable to comprehend the betrayal.
