"Here, take this jacket and put it on," Avinash said as he handed his jacket to Amyra.

"Why?" Amyra asked, confused about why he was offering her his jacket.

"Your dress's zipper is open," Avinash pointed out, noticing that Amyra's dress had a malfunction.

"What?? It broke again," Amyra exclaimed, realizing the problem. She took the jacket from Avinash and quickly put it on to cover herself.

"Alright then. The hotel must have a name. Tell me what it is," Avinash said.

"Yes, it must have a name, but I don't know it because my friend didn't tell me. Also, my phone is dead," Amyra explained hesitantly, feeling a bit embarrassed about not having the information.

"Wow, that's great. Now tell me where you want me to drop you."

“Is there a hotel nearby? Can you drop me there?” Amyra asked, her voice laced with exhaustion as she glanced out the window at the dark, unfamiliar streets.

“Alright,” Avinash replied, his tone neutral as he focused on the road ahead.

After a few minutes, they spotted a small hotel illuminated by a dim neon sign. Avinash slowed down and pulled over in front of it. “Here you go,” he said, nodding towards the entrance. Amyra hesitated for a moment, then unbuckled her seatbelt and stepped out of the car. The cold night air hit her, making her shiver as she walked towards the hotel. Avinash watched her disappear inside before settling back in his seat, drumming his fingers on the steering wheel as he waited.

Ten minutes passed, and Amyra re-emerged from the hotel, her expression a mix of frustration and disappointment. She approached the car, and Avinash rolled down the window.

“Okay, should I leave now?” he asked, assuming she had secured a room for the night.

“Umm… There are no rooms available,” Amyra admitted, avoiding his gaze as she wrapped her arms around herself, trying to ward off the chill.

Avinash’s expression hardened slightly. “Well, that’s your problem now. You asked me to drop you off, and I did. Now figure it out on your own,” he said, his voice firm as he restarted the car. “I’m leaving.”

“But…” Amyra’s voice faltered as she watched him pull away from the curb. Panic began to set in as she stood there, unsure of what to do. She could hear the distant rumble of his car as it drove away, leaving her alone on the deserted street.

Avinash glanced at his rearview mirror, seeing Amyra’s small figure still sitting on the steps outside the hotel, her head bowed, her shoulders slumped in defeat. Something inside him twisted uncomfortably. With a sigh, he slowed the car to a stop a short distance away. He hesitated for a moment, then rolled down his window and called out, his voice carrying through the still night air,

“Okay, come on, get in the car.”

Amyra looked up, surprised. “Okay, wait, I’m coming!” she shouted back, quickly getting to her feet. She hurried over to the car, opened the door, and slid into the passenger seat. She closed the door behind her, the warmth inside the car a welcome relief from the cold outside.

“So, where will you drop me now?” Amyra asked, her voice small as she looked over at Avinash, unsure of what to expect next.

“My mom always taught me never to leave a girl alone at night,” Avinash said, his tone softening slightly. “So, you’re coming with me. I’m staying at a friend’s house here in Lucknow.”
