She feels out of place here.
Sitting alone inside the library at ten in the morning on Saturday. A library was not really her thing if Haerin's being completely honest. The sports science major inside her who used to crowd just can't stand how quiet this place was and how everyone in here seemed to study so hard every time she saw them. It almost seems like they had it all figured out–what they wanted to do in life.
Although the latter part Haerin could relate to a little bit. And no, she still barely sees what she wants to do in life in the long term, but in the short-term, she does know her purpose. Which kinda explains why she's here, inside the last place she'd rather be on earth in the first place.
Haerin smells her first before seeing her. It's the addictive scent of baby powder that gets Haerin straightened up in her seat and her hand was quick to reach for the book that had been abandoned on the table even since she arrived twenty minutes ago and pretends to read it. But much to her horror, she's holding the book upside down. Fumbling to fix it, she drops it twice on the table before finally managing to hold it correctly.
She just hopes she doesn't look too pathetic to the eyes that's watching. The sound of it after all sounded like a freaking earthquake inside the quiet library.
The scent only intensified when the owner walked past her and Haerin couldn't resist the urge to lift her gaze and subtly watch the girl as she walked to her usual seat two tables away from where she is, can't help the sigh of disappointment that instantly left her lips when the girl chose to sit back facing her today.
Well, guess she'd settle just by staring at her back today. Though disappointed, she found herself totally fine with it. This is the only chance she got anyway. Being in a different department, with hers and Medicine's being located on the opposite ends of this huge campus, it's hard for her to catch a glimpse of the Department of Medicine's Princess. She wouldn't mind if it's just her back today. Danielle Marsh looks perfect in every angle anyway.
Haerin put back the book on the table slowly this time and dropped her chin on top of it, all while still staring at the girl two tables away. Danielle looked so pretty with her hair down today. The white blouse she wore complements her brown hair. It's simple, but then again she could wear a garbage bag and Haerin would still find her attractive as hell. Haerin shook her head at the thoughts and let out a silent chuckle.
It's strange but not entirely unwelcome, these feelings. It's just that she never found anyone attractive enough for her standard before, and definitely not her being attracted to them first.
Haerin was never the first one to show interest in people. It's always the other way around. People show interest in her and she usually sees where to go from there. And maybe that's why all the relationships she had before never lasted.
They fell first and she didn't catch.
Her friends have voiced their concern countless times about how she'd die single for how picky she is in choosing a partner and Haerin agreed with it because it's the truth–no one ever really caught her eyes.
Well, not until recently.
If only Hyein and Minji could see the state she's in at this moment, willing to leave the comfort of her bed every Saturday morning just for a girl, Haerin's sure they would freaking out and wouldn't let her live it down for the rest of her life.
How long has this been going on? Haerin honestly has no idea. She's just here one day, accompanying her friend and against her own will as Minji had to bribe her with food just to make her step into this place. She was sitting on this exact seat, boringly waiting for Minji when it all started.
