"You need a healthy heir, Elias! "

Elias coldly stood before his father and fifth step-mother, facing their glares head on.

"And why can't Elijah get you one?" Elias spat, a tone full of conspiracy.

"Elijah is no longer fit to have anything to do with this family, especially after what he did."

Elias' father stood abruptly, startling the woman beside him.

"Then, why don't we arrange something, a simple deal if you should call it so.."

Elias chuckled before rolling his eyes.

'A deal with him is like casting your soul to the devil.' Elias pondered as his father stretched his arm across the table.

"What kind of deal?"

"A rather small one.."

"Edward, stop dragging it out." the step-mother called out,

With a huff of annoyance, Edward spoke again.

"You have the choice of which woman shall carry your heir, and after the heir is born, you have to let go of her."

Elias sucked in a breath as he grit his teeth. One kid and it's over..

"Fine. Deal."

Elias outstretched his arm to meet his father's, shaking it formally.

"Good then! We will return in two months, so be a wise one with your time."

And with that, they were out the door.

.

TWO AND A HALF MONTHS LATER..

.

"Lorre, help your father to move the boxes!"

Lorre huffed and turn to her aunt, Salise, with annoyance.

"Aren't these all your stuff?"

"They are, but I just got my nails repolished, so I can't help." Salise replied, a tint of sassiness in her voice.

'Ugh, you're just happy mom left you with the money I'll inherit so you can buy more shit with it.' Of course Lorre couldn't say that to her face or she'll never hear the end of it.

Her aunt turned to her, a wash of disappointment covering her face, which soon merged in with anger. She then snapped her fingers before Lorre's face, bringing her from her stupor.

"Get lifting, girl. There's fragile lizard skin bags in there!"

Lorre could only scoff, mentally of course, as she joined her father in the truck.

"Out of everyone you could have married after mom died, you choose her polar-opposite twin!?"

Her father sighed, his breath one of frustration.

"You needed a mother figure and I guessed 'why not marry the person who reminds you of Regina, like her sister?' and that's how it started.."

It was safe to say that Lorre was trying her best to not lash out at her dad, even though he probably deserves it.

"Whatever.."

Lorre muttered out as she began to carry her aunt's heavy boxes inside their new house. It's big interior was much to be desired.

.

AWHILE LATER..

.

Lorre had retreated to her room with her respectful boxes, taking in her new environment along the way.

"Just a few more days, then it's back to college I go.."

Lorre thought out loud as she unpacked her belongings. The late morning glare illuminated her room with its bright rays, giving Lorre a clear recollection of her room. It wasn't too spacious, which fit perfect with her standards.

Lorre had recently finished her unpacking and headed downstairs. She was greeted by the outshining decor of the living quarters, moreover the kitchen. On the silk stormy grey sofa, sat her father and aunt, who seemed to be engrossed in their conversation.

"Dad?"

Lorre called, frowning in suspicion at her father's surprised face. It seemed like something was eating at him, itching him to say something.

"Eugene, just spill it. The sooner she goes, the more money we make y'know that."

Lorre's mind was filled with confusion. What did Salise mean by "..the sooner she goes.." and what money?

"What are you talking about?"

She glanced at her father, watching as his shocked features switched to one of guilt and sympathy. His mouth opened, closed, and opened again, before closing his parted lips and lowering his head in what seemed to be shame. Lorre became infuriated with this.

"Explain what the hell you're talking about!"

She demanded, raising her voice in frustration. Salise, watching the scene unfold with boredom, stood up, breaking the eerie aura around them.  Her bright strawberry colored lips parted and the few words that fell off Salise's tongue had Lorre in disbelief.

"To put it simply, we sold you off. 'kay?"

Lorre's heart felt shattered as she processed the four words that answered her question. She was enraged. Bold as Salise was, she could feel a tense and disturbing aura leave Lorre's body.

"WHAT THE FUCK TO YOU MEAN 'SOLD YOU OFF'?"

Her heart began racing in her chest as her anger grew. Salise was stunned at the girl's sudden outburst. Eugene took it in his hands to explain as he recovered from his shock and guilt.

"There was a rich family who wanted to find an eligible bride for their son, and they would pay for your mother's funeral and pay us extra if we went through with it."

Lorre snarled at her father's ridiculous explanation. How could he choose money over his only child?

"Tch. And what rich ass family would be so fucking desperate to buy someone's freedom for their kid?"

"I believe that family would be us."
