Natsume was bored again.

Evenings in Yokohama were normally beautiful, but today the weather seemed to have different plans. Rain was no stranger to the residents of the port city, but Atsushi hadn't been part of it for long. It had barely been a week since he'd started working at the Agency, and perhaps this was the boy's first tumultuous experience of the weather because Natsume could clearly see his worried face peering out of the agency's window up at the dismal sky.

Sitting idly on the top of the building opposite the agency headquarters, Natsume stood up and stretched his lanky frame. It was hard work being a cat. He got sleepy all the time, and hungry more often. Not to mention some people just seemed to have no regard for small animals on the street that they might step on, but oh well. If he needed to sacrifice that for the city, then so be it.

He considered briefly if it would be too dangerous to mess with Atsushi again so soon after the last time, but ultimately his curiosity won out. The boy was interesting, and his past even more so.

I'm sure sending him back once more won't hurt.

. . .

Kunikida took one look at the dark sky and rearranged his entire schedule.

The rain was but a mere obstacle in his long-term plans, something he'd already accounted for. It proved to be a nuisance, surely, but it was nothing he couldn't deal with. There was much to be done before the skies opened up. Files to sort, paperwork to manage, requests to put on hold and much more. It wouldn't be difficult to get all of it done with the members working so rapidly under his orders if it weren't for-

"Who do you think came up with the idiom 'raining cats and dogs?' Isn't it an odd thing to say?" Dazai mused from his desk, his head resting back against the chair.

Kunikida ignored him. "Kenji, stack these in the corner."

"Right!" Kenji swiped the pile from his desk and trotted off.

The first drop of rain hit the window of the agency with a soft splash and Kunikida looked up. He must send the members home soon lest they get caught in the downpour and get sick. Or worse, take a day off.

"Or do you think cats and dogs really did drop out of the clouds?" Dazai continued in a dreamy voice, his gaze fixed on the ceiling. Kunikida tensed.

Atsushi eyed him fearfully from his place opposite Dazai, but sensing the danger Tanizaki hastily paused in front of Kunikida and thrust a bin full of discarded paper in front of his face.

"Where does this go?"

Kunikida raised an eyebrow at Tanizaki in surprise, but his attention was diverted from Dazai for the moment. Atsushi breathed in a discreet sigh of relief.

"In the recycling bin?"

"Oh, of course!" Tanizaki chimed. He gave an oops-silly-me smile and walked off, winking at Atsushi behind his back. Kunikida went back to typing at his computer.
