the next morning, Sakusa woke up about an hour before the alarm was supposed to wake up the pair. Atsumu was still sleeping soundly in his arms, although he didn't seem to mind. "he's so peaceful, he's so...dreamy" Sakusa thought, hoping he wouldn't ever have to let go of the blonde next to him. that was weird, why was he thinking that? why was he not grossed out by being so close to someone? it was all so sudden but he couldn't feel any regret, moreover, he found himself admiring Atsumu.
Atsumu started shifting and turning around in his sleep, which startled Sakusa's train of thought. he gently wrapped his arms around the blonde's waist rather tightly, which made the latter calm down and wake up. still half asleep, Atsumu snuggled closer to the brunette, placing his head on the other's chest, and wrapped his arms around Sakusa's neck, which brought the two of them even closer. however, Sakusa didn't mind one bit. it made him feel happy, content, and as if he could be doing this forever. it was nice, warm, and comforting. the blonde boy opened his eyes to see the brunette next to him curl his lips into a soft smile, which made Atsumu's cheeks turn into a pretty shade of pastel pink.
"Atsu? you up?" Sakusa asked quietly, his voice barely more than a whisper.
"mhm, barely. what time is it?" Atsumu groaned and let out a big yawn.
"you can go back to sleep, we've got time" the brunette reassured, gaining a soft look from the boy in his arms. Sakusa began playing with Atsumu's hair, gently brushing it off his face, and eventually planting a small, genuine kiss on his forehead. the same shade of pink made its way back to Atsumu's face, who then buried his face into the other's chest out of slight embarrassment.
after enough time had passed, or what was supposed to be enough so the two boys wouldn't be late to practice, Sakusa went to his room to get ready, not before hugging the other boy tightly.
"see you later Atsu" the brunette said with a big smile on his face.
his smile was returned by the blonde, who replied with a quiet "see ya, Omi", still sleepy from having just woken up.
in his room, Sakusa was greeted by a very confused Komori, who, of course, had to question Sakusa, which was exactly what the taller boy didn't need.
"where the hell were you, Kiyoomi? you were gone the whole night"
"you had strangers over, I don't like many people invading my personal space so I did what I had to do. in fact, I don't like people in general anywhere near my personal space, but I now have two exceptions, not just you, Komori" Sakusa replied rather coldly to his cousin, even though it wasn't intended, but Komori knew that so he didn't take it to heart.
"you were with Atsumu, weren't you?" Komori said, with a big grin on his face, waiting for the reply of his cousin so he could tease him.
"how'd you know? maybe I was all alone on the streets because my cousin didn't care about me. maybe I slept in the hallway because people kept going in and out of my room"
"you'd never do that, too dirty for ya. you were with Tsumu"
Komori then started laughing and teasing Sakusa, the only replies he received being insults and dirty looks, even though he was right.
"you've gone soft, Kiyoomi, admit it"
"maybe"
Komori was left dumbfounded. he expected any answer in the world, just not that one. he, for once, was finally right, Sakusa had gone soft for the one and only Miya Atsumu. strange, he never would have thought of that. nobody would ever expect this. it was odd, bizarre, unexpected, sudden, outlandish, curious, peculiar, unorthodox even, yet it felt right for everyone involved, so nothing else mattered.
Atsumu texted his brother once he was left alone, telling Osamu to call him when he woke up, knowing he usually woke up early before Atsumu had to go to practice. he might have spammed him, possibly waking him up. he also might have mentioned a couple times that he had something very urgent and perhaps important to say to his twin, which of course caused an immense amount of panic in Osamu. no later than 5 minutes later, the sound of Atsumu's ringtone filled the quiet room, and the boy quickly answered.
"Tsumu what could possibly be so important to wake me up this early in the morning? it better be something groundbreaking, otherwise you're getting blocked."
"it is. Omi spent the night in my room last night." Atsumu said bluntly
"Who? Did what?" Osamu was obviously confused. who was this Omi Atsumu was talking about? Could it be-
"Sakusa. Sakusa Kiyoomi" Atsumu said, solving only half of the mystery going on in his brother's head at the moment.
"tell me now, how did he even end up there? wasn't he some kind of germ freak?"
"first of all, he's not a freak. second of all, yeah but I don't know what was up with him last night, it was so random."
"start from the beginning Tsumu, I'm confused"
"Basically, after my chat with you about him yesterday I'd gone for a walk but ended up lost and in a random empty park to gather my thoughts. Omi somehow tagged along? i don't know, he just walked up to me and we spent the evening talking for hours on end, until almost midnight. then he said something about Komori, his cousin, bringing in some of his friends into their room, they share a room btw, and Omi didn't want to be around all those people and the mess they very obviously made so I offered him to spend the night in my room and he agreed. it was adorable"
"I'm gagging," Osamu said jokingly, starting the usual banter between the two.
after their little argument ended, which took up most of Atsumu's time that he was supposed to spend getting ready, they had to hang up the call so the blonde twin wouldn't be late for practice.
