Author's Notes: And here we are at the second chapter of my fic. In this chapter, Alan and Ellie will receive an unexpected visit from a billionaire couple, who have an offer they can't refuse. I know that the image below is of that couple from the new horror film in the franchise The Strangers, but I couldn't find an ideal photo of a couple that could represent the characters in my fanfic, so if you're reading this chapter, pretend that the couple in the image below is the billionaire couple, okay? Anyway, have a good read ^w^

It was three twenty-five in the afternoon that day, where everything seemed to be calm. The sky was clear, the birds were singing and the leaves were falling from the trees. Everything seemed to be peaceful. After giving another lecture and failing once again in their attempt to get some funding for their research, Alan and Ellie were driving home. The paleontologist was talking to his wife while driving. He was quite frustrated, because no one was really interested in his research, much to his dismay. But he didn't want to give up at all, but on the other hand, the paleobotany was starting to have a pessimistic view of the matter.

— Well, honey, this is the fifth time we haven't gotten any funding for our research, but I'm not one to give up so easily.

— But will we really get money for our research? Like, don't you think we've tried several times and so far no one has shown interest?

— Ellie, are you thinking of giving up now? We have to fight for what we want.

— I know we need this money, honey. But the problem is that we still haven't managed to attract investors because they're more interested in those monstrosities created in the lab by InGen. And to make matters worse, we also need money to pay the mortgage on the house, and the deadline is next week.

— Don't even talk to me about that. But God willing, everything will work out.

— Oh, sure, as if there were any possibility of a miracle knocking on our door.

— Honey, don't exaggerate.

After a few more minutes of traveling, the couple finally arrived home. Upon entering the house, they were both welcomed by their two children, who were accompanied by the nanny.

— Daddy! Mommy!

— Kiddos!

The two children ran towards their parents, who jumped on them to hug them affectionately.

— Did you behave well? — Ellie asked.

— Of course, Mommy! — Charlie replied.

— And was the nanny good and kind to you? — Alan asked.

— Yes, daddy! — Ruby replied as she held her porcelain doll.

— Don't worry, everything went well while you were away. By the way, your children are little angels, aren't they, little ones? — The nanny said as she tickled the two children happily. — Did you get any funding for the research?
