Isekai Legacy- Book 1

Chapter 13

Jane fought against the light that shone past her eyelids. She wasn't ready to get up yet. Her body was so heavy and her bed was so warm. She also didn't want to give up on the chance of reliving her dream again. She had dreamt that Ominis had held her in his arms as they lay together. A dream within a dream- but whatever it was a great one.

Her stomach made a protest though, and so did her bladder. Begrudgingly she started to stir, stretching her body under blankets. With effort she sat up, stretching her arms out as she did so. She looked around the room- the sun was shining bright and there was no one else in sight (oooo a poet).

She swung her legs over the side of her bed and got up. Her legs wobbled a little, but she grabbed onto the best post to help. Man her body was so weak- what was up with that? As she moved over to her trunk with her clothes she caught sight of herself in a mirror and did a double take.

She was a hot mess in her nightgown, her bed head reaching out in every direction. Honestly she looked like she had been hit by a bus. At this time she also noticed that she did not smell very good at all. She was going to have to shower before anything else- also she needed the toilet.

After the shower and change of clothes her head was feeling a little bit cleaner, the sleep all but gone. She wasn't sure what time it was, but by how bright the sun was she figured she had slept through breakfast. Bummer. Maybe she could go nab some food from the kitchen.

She headed down the stairs, but stopped when she heard someone calling out to her. She looked around and saw Natty coming towards her from the portrait hole and she was carrying- food!

"I was just on my way to wake you up!" She said pleasantly. When she reached Jane she held out some of the pastries that she had been carrying. She graciously took them and made them disappear as if it was magic.

"You're wonderful" They sat down at one of the tables and she ate her fill.

"Are you feeling better now?"

"Oh yeah. I really appreciate you bringing these for me! Did you notice I wasn't at breakfast and just assumed I'd need some help?"

"Well after last night I didn't know what time you would wake up. So I grabbed some stuff so you'd be able to eat when you woke."

"After last night? What do you mean?" She stared at the girl, who looked a little uneasy under her gaze.

"I also wasn't sure how much you would remember... Seems like I'm going to have to fill you in."

And she did, to the absolute horror of Jane. Natty explained how she had been finishing up working with Poppy when Garreth had found her. He had said that she, Jane, had gone on an adventure of sorts and was now exhausted. He had been helping her get back to the dormitories, but knew he could only get so far as a boy (magical sliding stairs).

When they made it out of the Library, they had found her holding onto an utterly bewildered Ominis. It had taken Garreth considerable effort to pry her off of him, but once he did- the three of them made it to the Gryffindor common room.

The boy had set her down, and Natty had supported her all the way up to her room. Once there she had helped her get her dirty clothes off, and her nightgown on. Apparently Jane had been very affectionate towards the girl, going on and on about what a wonderful person she was.

Hearing everything sent Jane into an embarrassing overdrive. How did she keep getting caught up in these things?? Memories started coming back to her- the headless hunt, shameless Jackdaw, the cave, but everything after that was just....

AND SHE HUGGED OMINIS????? What the hell could she have said to him before Natty had shown up??? Was he going to hate her now??? Or even worse had she made him feel so uncomfortable!! AHHHH there was no way he consented to her grabbing onto him like that, or maybe he had tried to get her off but she wouldn't leave!
