"11.. 12.. 13.. 14!" This is it. After nearly 2 hours of driving, I have finally reached my new home. It's a strange feeling, moving. The house where I grew up in London was, to be fair, tiny. My parents, as loving as the two of them were, they were both aspiring poets whose careers had never really taken off, leaving them with fair-weather jobs an-
No. I'm not going to think about them now.
Holy... I finally get a good look at the house for the first time since I got here, and I am surprisingly impressed. It's like a bloody mansion compared to my last place! I can definitely get used to this. I'm not used to bungalows due to the fact that in London there's not really much room for them, but I like it. I will admit though, I'm a bit intimidated by the size. I mean, how much space do two girls need? Oh god, what if she runs a crack house? What if that's why the rent is so cheap?!
I shake that thought out of my head and reach into my back pocket for the key that Sophie gave me when she came up to meet me last week. Rolling it around in my hand, I take a deep breath and force a smile onto my face. This couldn't be too bad, right? And even if it is, I'll only be here for a few weeks and then I'll be back with Mum and Dad, where I belong. Yeah. I can stand it here for that long.
I slowly insert the key into the lock and turn, opening the door a crack. "...Sophie?" I whisper into the crack in the door. No answer. I push the door open a bit more and stick my head in. "Soph?" I speak slightly louder into the room. Nothing. I open the door all the way and fully step into the house, looking around me with what I am sure is a look of wonder on my face. I feel oddly welcomed by the sitting room and I take a seat on the sofa that is placed a few feet ahead of me. Oh geeze this is a comfy sofa.. I could lie here all da-
"Hey Soph- Who the hèll are you?!" I am so startled by the deep voice that I fall off the sofa, landing with a groan on the carpet below me, scrambling to get to my feet, only succeeding in banging my head on the coffee table and sending a big bowl of popcorn that had been placed on it flying across the room. Great. Just. Great. I have been here for less than two minutes and I have already made a mess. Oh god, Sophie is going to be PÎSSED. I know, maybe if I lay face down on the carpet I will turn invisible and not have to listen to her kicking me out. And that is exactly what I'm content with doing until I remember the reason that I fell off the sofa in the first place.
I slowly pick myself up, making sure to look out for any obstacles in the way. When I'm fully standing, I turn until I find myself face to face with a very angry and very topless man. Oh god oh god oh god. He's going to rape me, and then he's going to kill me, and then I'll never be able to fulfill my dream of killing myself in some elaborate way and oh NO THIS IS TERRIBLE.
"Who the flying fish nuggets are you?" I ask the man standing in front of me. I can see his jaw tick and his eyebrows scrunch up with confusion at my odd behavior. Right as he opens his mouth to speak I cut him off, not willing to give this strange, albeit gorgeous, intruder the satisfaction of speaking over me in my own home. "Oh, I know! You're a stalker aren't you? You like to go to the park in the middle of the day and spy on girls my age and then you follow them home. You're a stalker and you're planning on murdering Sophie! YOU'RE A SOPHIE STALKER AND I WILL NOT LET YOU GET AWAY WITH THI-"
"Would you just shut up for two seconds? Jesus Christ woman, you sure can talk a lot." The man says with a look of bewilderment and annoyance in his eyes. "I could ask you all the same questions."
How dare he?! Is he really insinuating that I am a stalker? In my own home?? "Alright, that's it chum-"
He mumbles under his voice "Chum, what the fu-"
"Hey, I did not give you permission to talk!" I yell and am pleasantly surprised by the gobsmacked look on his perfectly sculpted face. Yeah, that's right beautiful man, you should be intimidated by me. "Here's what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna call Sophie, and I'm gonna tell her she has a stalker in her house and she's gonna come home and beat you up and if you so much as try anything then" I falter a little, not really having thought this out. "Then.." I look around the room for something to use as a weapon. "Ah! If you try anything then I swear to hufflepuff I will stick this bookmark so far up your nose you will smell defeat. Do you understand?"
"Lady, you're fûcking crazy!" The green-eyed man shouts from across the room while I pull out my phone and dial Sophie's number. I give him the toughest glare I can muster and brandish the bookmark in the air, silently threatening him to shut it.
"Hailey?" I jump slightly as I hear Sophie's voice coming from my phone.
"Ah! Sophie! First of all, where are you, you said you would help me out at 2pm and it is currently," I glance at my phone, "2:02. Secondly, you have a strange man in your home. I think he may be stalking you. Do you need help Sophie? I can call for help."
"Hailey what the hèll are you talking about?" I hear slight giggling coming from her end and realized that she was laughing. Laughing! In a perilous situation such as this! There is only one explanation
"Sophie I think you may be going into shock. It's okay. Take deep breaths Soph. DEEP BREATHS." The laughing continues and I hear a sigh come from the other side of the room. I snap my eyes up to the man, who was currently trying to make his way into a different part of the house. "Hey! HEY ODD MAN! GET BACK HERE RIGHT NOW OR I WILL STICK THIS BOOKMARK RIGHT UP YOUR NOSE AND DON'T THINK I WON'T DO IT CAUSE.. CAUSE I'M SUCH A. A. A BAD-BUTT." This caused Sophie to positively howl with laughter on the other end and the odd man to attempt to say something before immediately shutting his oddly attractive mouth when I waved the bookmark in front of his face.
"Hai-Hailey" Sophie gasped between bouts of laughter. "What is the 's- st- strange man's' n- name?" I don't know why she would want to know the name of her stalker, but whatever she wants. I snap my fingers to get pretty-boys attention.
"Hey. The girl wants to know your name, so I'm giving you a one-time pass so you can tell me. Tell me your name and THAT'S IT. ANYTHING MORE AND YOUR RIGHT NOSTRIL GETS IT." I could feel the judgement in the man's green eyes as he replied with a simple 'Pj'.
"His name is Pj, Sophie. I repeat: P. J. It sounds like a pretty suspicious name if you ask me." I felt Pj glaring at me and I turned around to wave the bookmark in his face once more.
"O-okay Hail. I'm right outside, I'm coming in. Stay calm." Sophie told me, and I thought I heard her mutter "Oh this is pure gold" under her breath before she hung up but I could never be too certain.
The split second between when Sophie hung up and when she burst through the door was the first time I was properly able to examine Pj during the encounter. His hair fell like a sort of curly mop, and it's the colour of caramel chocolate. His face was incredibly defined, as was *ahem* his chest. But what really catches my attention is his eyes. They're the perfect shade of green, and one could compare them to a forest during the sunset. There were flecks of yellow and brown that mixed in with the green that just gave them a sort of mysterious look.
Of course I didn't have long to observe his beautiful eyes because in that moment Sophie opened the door. "Sophie! This is the stalker." I point at Pj, but instead of freaking out and calling the cops like she really should do in a situation like this, she just starts laughing. Again. Oh no, maybe I did make a mistake in coming to live with this girl. "Why are you laughing? This is no laughing matter, Sophie!"
I stare at her until she calms herself down enough to talk. "Hailey, I would like you to meet Pj. Pj, Hailey. You're each other's new room mates, along with me of course."
There's silence for a few seconds while me and forest eyes gape at each other, and then we finally seem to process what Sophie said.
"WHAT?!" we both yelled at the same time, immediately turning to Sophie for further explanation.
"Surprise..?"
WAAAAAY It's the first official chapter! This is highly unedited but I think it turned out quite well. I'm proud of it :) Next chapter is up on Wednesday! (You can find my update schedule on my profile) ~ThatFicChic
