The office buzzed with the usual late-afternoon activity as Ha-eun walked through the hallway, clutching a thick envelope to her chest. The weight of the resignation letter inside felt heavier with each step she took. The recent days had been a whirlwind of accusations, doubt, and frustration, and Ha-eun had reached her breaking point. The camaraderie she once felt in the office had been replaced by an isolating cloud of suspicion and betrayal.

Her decision to resign had not come lightly. The constant whispers and sideways glances from her colleagues had eroded her confidence. Joon-ho's earlier anger, though now tempered, still left a sting that made it impossible for her to continue working there. The trust she once had in the company—and in him—was shattered.

When Ha-eun reached Joon-ho's office, she took a deep breath, trying to steady her nerves. She knocked on the door, and a moment later, Joon-ho's voice called out, "Come in."

She entered to find Joon-ho seated at his desk, his gaze fixed on a stack of papers. He looked up, and the moment their eyes met, Ha-eun could see a flicker of surprise and concern in his eyes.

"Ha-eun," he said, pushing his chair back and standing up. "What's going on?"

Without wasting any time, Ha-eun walked forward and placed the envelope on his desk. "I've decided to resign," she said, her voice steady but tinged with emotion. "Effective immediately."

Joon-ho's eyes widened, and he took a step closer, reaching for the envelope. "Wait, what? Why are you doing this?"

Ha-eun forced herself to meet his gaze, though her resolve wavered under the intensity of his stare. "I can't work here anymore, Joon-ho. Not after everything that's happened. The accusations, the mistrust—it's too much. I need to move on."

Joon-ho's expression shifted from confusion to frustration. "You're making a mistake, Ha-eun. I know things have been difficult, but we can work through this. I want to fix things."

"I don't think we can," Ha-eun said softly, her heart aching. "I've already made up my mind."

She turned to leave, but Joon-ho's voice stopped her. "Ha-eun, please. Just... let me explain. I've been trying to clear things up with the executives, and I want to make it right. Don't go like this."

Ha-eun hesitated, her hand on the door handle. The conflict within her was palpable. Part of her wanted to stay and give him another chance, but the pain of the past days made it hard to believe that things could be repaired so easily.

"I've already made arrangements," she said finally, her voice breaking. "I'll be leaving tonight. My resignation is final."

With a heavy heart, Ha-eun opened the door and stepped out of Joon-ho's office. She walked back through the hallway, her emotions swirling in a mix of sadness and relief. As she packed up her things, she could feel the weight of the decision pressing on her shoulders. She was leaving behind not just a job but the relationships she had built over time.

Min-seok had been quietly supportive throughout the ordeal. He noticed the turmoil on Ha-eun's face as she made her way to her desk to gather her belongings.

"Are you okay?" he asked gently, his concern evident.

Ha-eun forced a smile. "Just getting things sorted out," she said, her voice betraying her inner turmoil.

Min-seok nodded, sensing that something was amiss. "I heard you're leaving," he said, his voice filled with sympathy. "I'm really sorry things didn't work out."

Ha-eun sighed, feeling the weight of his words. "It's for the best. I need to move on."

Min-seok hesitated for a moment, then took a deep breath. "If you're open to it, there's a chance for a fresh start. My cousin owns a marketing firm, and they're looking for someone with your skills. I could put in a good word for you."

Ha-eun looked at him, surprised by the offer. "I appreciate that, Min-seok. But I don't know if I'm ready to jump into something new just yet."

Min-seok's expression was earnest. "You don't have to decide right away. Take some time to think it over. I'm just offering you a chance, if you want it."

Ha-eun nodded, touched by his kindness. "Thank you, Min-seok. I'll definitely think about it."

With her personal belongings packed, Ha-eun made her way to the exit. Each step felt heavier than the last, as if she was leaving behind a part of herself. She glanced back at the office one last time, the memories of her time there flashing through her mind.

As she stepped outside, the cool evening air felt refreshing, but it did little to ease the ache in her heart. The city lights glimmered in the distance, a reminder of the world that awaited her beyond the confines of her old job.

With her resignation letter submitted and her departure inevitable, Ha-eun knew that starting anew was the only path forward. Yet, the questions and uncertainties about her future remained. As she walked away from the office building, she could only hope that, in time, she would find the answers she was searching for and the peace she needed to heal.

For now, she was faced with the challenge of moving on and rebuilding her life. The road ahead was uncertain, but Ha-eun was determined to forge a new path, no matter how daunting it seemed.
