Cale follows Soosie closely behind her as she makes her way to her office on her ship. Cale follows Soosie silently until she enters into her office and shuts the door on Cale. Cale knocks quietly on her door before she opens it. Soosie can be found sitting down on her desk with her left hand resting on her face.
Soosie: The nerve of my mother. Making a scene like that!?
Cale: Hey, hey.. Let's take it easy now, okay? Maybe she was just-
Soosie: Trying to embarrass me? As usual it seems. Who does she think she is?
Cale: Well, it was nice of her to want to sit down for a while and just talk, wasn't it?
Soosie: HA! HA! Her? Nice? HA!
Cale: Why are you laughing?
Soosie: That's what you call comedy, Cale. It's funny, so I'm going to laugh.
Cale: Oh.. Ha? Ha?
Soosie rolls her eyes and looks at her fingernails.
Soosie: That woman is not nice. She is who she is and being nice is not exactly a quality of hers.
Cale: Do you really know her that well to make that call?
Soosie: Of course, I do. I'm her daughter.
She tries to understand me, tries to reason with me.. tries to approach me in the way she thinks best. She tries to make me make sense to her. But history has shown that it doesn't work out that way. It never has and never will unless she changes the way that she thinks. And trust me, I don't believe that's ever going to happen.Cale: Maybe you should give her a chance to-
Soosie: Don't even think about finishing that sentence, Cale. I have been kind to you beyond what most would expect out of me. I don't need you to try and soften my feelings up to make amends with her. I know what to do. I have learned exactly what to do and that's exactly what I'm going to do.
Cale: I'm learning every day. I'm learning about people, I'm learning about.. me. I'm thinking about words and somehow I'm putting them together to make sense. How does that make sense?
Soosie: It doesn't entirely.
Cale: Exactly! How was I like before? I have no clue. But it's hard. I don't know what to do with these feelings that I get. One moment I could be sad about anything and then literally the next moment, I'm curious about how that clock above you works. It's been awfully tiring for me so far.
Soosie: Tiring is the right word.
Cale: So, you know what? I am going to finish my sentence. Maybe you should give her a chance to help her make sense to you.
Soosie stands up from her desk and slowly puts her hands on the table.
Soosie: Cale, thank you. But, no.
Cale: What do you mean?
Soosie: I'm just going to deal with it. That's my way because I know how she is. You can stop trying to me advice.
Cale: Soosie, I-
Soosie: I think you don't know what you're talking about, but you're just trying to be supportive..
