It had been a few days at camp, and Nico was finally getting the hang of life there. He had even managed to get to the top of the climbing wall barely getting singed. The only thing that kept him form having a good time was that he hadn't heard a word from Bianca, his sister. She had promised to write to him after a week of joining the Hunters of Artemis, but there had been nothing. He was beginning to get worried. None of the others at camp had heard anything either.
That night after a tense dinner with the other demigods (Katie had dumped Travis and it was very awkward) Nico had gone to his cabin, hoping to find a letter there, but there was NADA. Just as he was about to sleep, he heard a knock on the door. It was Chiron.
"Nico, someone is here to see you. She comes baring news."
Nico leapt out f bed and ran to the meeting room in the big house. When he arrived he found Thalia waiting, pacing back and forth. There was no sign of Bianca. Dread pooled in Nico's stomach."Thalia? What are you doing here? Where's Bianca?"
"Nico! I'm really sorry!" She hugged him and he felt tears soak his shirt. Nico knew what was coming but he needed confirmation.
"What happened?" He choked out.
"There was a manticore. She tried her best but ..." FUCK. No no no no. This couldn't be happening. She couldn't be gone. She had raised him. She was his only family.
He shared a few words with Thalia, barely keeping his tears at bay, but he had to leave. Just as he turned toward the door, everyone gasped."What's going on?" He asked. Everyone kept their gaze trained above his head. He looked up to find a glowing silver skull floating above his head.
"WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT!" He yelped, swatting at it. When he looked at Chiron, he was kneeling on the floor with everyone else.
"Hail Nico Di Angelo, Son of Hades."
Nico couldn't take it anymore. He ran to his room, flopped on his bed and started sobbing uncontrollably.
