"..." is for speech and '...' is for thoughts. With the exception of Discordant,Decadence and Winter as they live inside Quix's head.

Only the clinking of cutlery could be heard throughout the dining room. But,it was indistinguishable known to everyone a Storm was brewing under the long standing charade they all kept up. It could've been clearly seen from just the sound made as the utensils clashed against the plates.

It produced a crisp light sound that was unnerving and abstract. The sound stemmed from the stiff, inflexible mechanical movements performed by the family of three.

"What a wonderful atmosphere! Period!" Discordant praised with unprecedented sincerity that just rubbed Quix the wrong way.

"Would it kill you to shut your trap for a damn minute." Quix snapped at her as the remark only added feeling of tension she was already experiencing.

"Give her a break. She is not doing much harm. In fact this could be considered helping. Rather than looking like robot from Temu or Shein, isn't it better to look like Pinocchio?" Decadence scrutinized as she attempted to quell Quix's anger.

"Preach sista!" Discordant spoke in the blackest tone she could while expressing her support.

"Urk!" Quix made a stifling sound comparable to a drowning cat.

*cough* *cough*

Quix choked on the rice she had in her mouth as the food went down her windpipe.

Her faced morphed drastically from an air of nonchalance to one which makes one assume she ate shit.

Her parents ignored her, continuing to eat while occasionally casting disgusted glances in her direction.

"The debt increased again." Quix's mother Halluma Falter, stated softly as her voice drifted leisurely across the room assaulting the ears of Quix and her father, Lumelo Falter.

"Who names their child Lumelo, sounds like luminescent. If It's not because his ugliness shine through then I don't know what. No wonder he's failing in life, no one could get past the brightness. Dont even get me started on Halluma." Discordant said while laughing to herself.

"What's wrong with Halluma?." Quix asked incredulously not even bothering to refute Discordant's comment.

"Her sight, clearly." Decadence promptly added.

Lumelo's face could be seen visibly deforming drastically rivaling a person's change in attitude when they found out you have money.

He scrunched up his face while wearing a scowl. Subsequently, all his facial flesh started moving; folding, wiggling, contorting and recoiling in an unsettling manner that in no way could be deemed humane. His small eyes narrowed even further and a viens trailing from eyes to his neck pulsed uncontrollably.

The muscles form the mountain of extra flesh he had on his body bulged and expanded which in no way looked safe for neither him or anyone else for that matter.

"Stand corrected. Why did our mother marry a goblin orc hybrid when she could pass as a mermaid?" Discordance asked her high pitched tone laced with trepidation.

'Money?' Quix mused mentally in response to Discordant.

"Are you sick. Does THAT look like it has future much less money. It's a miracle it don't drop dead in front of us and lived this long. I just hope it's ugliness or worthlessness doesn't rub off on us." Decadence uttered sounding concerned.

'It's not that bad.Is it?' inquired Quix while looking bewildered like a toddler absorbing everything an adult says without any suspicion to his/her claims.
