Alsephina
That's it. My first day of work. I'm nervous but excited all the same. Two days passed in a blur, and I enjoyed every bit of it. To say that I'm falling in love with this city would be an understatement. The day before yesterday, I went to Central Park. It was not just the view that was breathtaking but also the warmth of people present there with nothing but smiles on their faces. I did snap a couple of pictures and sent them to my family chat and to Cecily. Then I went to various other places like the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Grand Central Terminal and Bryant Park. As I went back to my hotel room in the evening, I was pretty tired, but I made sure to call mom and dad and also told them about my sightseeing.
Then, yesterday I went to St. Patrick's Cathedral, then the American Museum of Natural History and lastly to the Times Square in the evening. It was such a beautiful sight, people bustling on the roads and the boards shining all over. When I reached my hotel room at seven o'clock, I ordered room service and called an early night. I snap out of my haze, finish my shower and dry my hair looking at the mirror by the sink. Then I open my bag and take out the dress that I had picked for wearing on the first day of my job. I button up my white blouse shirt, then my black pencil skirt which ends just above my knees and pair them up with my white pointed pumps. I tie my dark brown hair in a messy ponytail leaving a few shorts strands out. Then, I apply very light but professional makeup, grab my purse, put on my overcoat and leave my room. In the lift, I take a deep breath to calm my nerves and then stand at the entry way of the hotel to catch a cab.
I give the driver the address of the NBC universal. I check my phone for emails during the ride but then, I see four text messages in my inbox, I open them and smile to myself after realising who they are from,
MOM:- All the best for your first day dear, you'll do great. Love you, sweetheart.
DAD:- Good luck, my little star. Wow them as you do everyone else. Show them how bright you shine. Love you, Ana.
Cecily:- Go there and kick some ass, girl. You got this and you deserve it, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Love you babe.
Addy :- Best of luck on your first day, BABY SIS. Hit them with a storm. You got it. Take care.
I shake my head while smiling, thinking about my family and best friend and quickly type out "Thanks" and "Love you too" to everyone. As I reach the building of my office, I go through the rolling doors towards the reception. The receptionist is a tall blonde girl with brown eyes and a smile on her face. Seeing me, she asks, "Good Morning ma'am, how can I help you?"
"Good Morning, I'm the new hire at the NBC Universal, could you please tell me on which floor is the HR?"
"Sure, just go to the 20th floor.", she says with a smile. I thank her and move towards the lift and then go to the 20th floor. As I come out of the lift, I am greeted with a vast lobby with glass walls on either side which is to divide different departments. I search for the HR and find it on the fourth door to the left. I notice a woman reading something on a computer with deep concentration. I knock on the glass door which catches her attention and she pops her head above the monitor and signals me to come in with a bright smile.
"It's so nice to finally meet you in person, Miss Alsephina Adams." she says while standing from a chair and rounding the desk.
When she comes to stand in front of me, I take a proper look at her, black shoulder length hair, white skin and blue eyes with a formal beige pant-suit attire. As I look at her face, she looks just over thirty-five.
