Elodie's pov:

*pit pat pit pat*

I watched the raindrops fall one by one.  I sometimes wonder if rain is a living thing, if every single rain drop means a new life has been born. But of course that isn't true because it doesn't rain all the time.

When it stopped raining i slipped on my outdoor shoes  and opened the front door, bringing a picnic blanket, a book and my headphones out with me. I laid out the blanket on the lawn and laid on my stomach with my feet in the air and my head peering over my book, 'Romeo and Juliet'. Sometimes i imagine i'm Juliet and some mystery boy is Romeo, but of course that would never happen. No boys have ever talked to me or set one foot near me, am i some sort of illness that people need to stay away from?  I don't even have friends. I am never gonna known what love feels like. With that i closed my eyes, rolled onto my back and imagined this mystery boy again. He had brown hair, and brown eyes and was about 6'0, he was so dreamy.

All of a sudden i was awoken from my slumber with screaming to my ears. "ELODIE FRENCH DAWSON WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING?" Mother said screaming so much that a bundle of spit falls out and lands on my nose, and is quickly wiped away by my cold hand as I swiftly reply with "Reading."

"GET INSIDE NOW." Mother shouts, this happens often i rarely get peace.

"What is it mother?" I reply calmly, looking down in fear.

"DON'T YOU DARE GO OUTSIDE WITHOUT WASHING THE DISHES AGAIN. DO YOU HEAR ME?" Mother says as she slaps my arm and I nod in agreement.

Then i go up to my room fighting back tears as I creased my forehead and rolled into a ball, covering myself head to toe in a warm blanket. I was pained, the colour draining out my face and my arm throbbing with pain and memories. I sniffed then my mother walked in. "YOUR GROUNDED!" She shouted, i bet the whole world would hear her by how loud she is. Gosh, does she ever turn her volume down. With that, i fell asleep.

2 hours later...

I woke up and wiped away my sleepy tears then I stood up and checked the door handle, it was locked. I wanted to escape, to leave this place, even if it was only for a night or a few hours.

The window. It was the only other way out.

I slipped a jacket over my head and slid on some joggers a and put my warm winter boots on and climbed out the window, using the bricks as a climbing wall to get down.

As i reached and set foot at the bottom of my garden i ran to the closest wood where i couldn't be seen.
