Rua's POV:
Life isn't fair but, who said that it had to be? Disinterestedly, she stared at the calander glaring at the date. Tommorow the government mandated torture begins. It was her senior school year and she prayed that things would be different. She hoped that everything-something-anything would change.
They say that at eighteen your life has truly begun but so far for her its been the same old garbage. Even though turning eighteen was a milestone. She'd even go as far as to say it was in its self a major achievement. Especially, in her family were it's a blessing to have reached this age and still be remotely sane. Some might say that she was too young to have any "real" issues but they'd be dead wrong. Issue # 1: Her twin had gone off of the deep end. She didn't know the boy anymore.
Apparently, things do change! Evolution as they call it or in her situation growing pains. Some evolutionary changes were successful while others epic failures. Who knew growing up would be such a pain? To pinpoint an exact moment when her brother lost his mind well it happened January 1, 2016. Their first official day as high schoolers.
Seemingly overnight he morphed from a cool, slightly thoughtful, and caring older brother into a grade A douche bag. She could hardly find any traces of the boy who once loved to eat glue and boogies anymore. In her mind he'll always be a boogie muncher and at one time her best friend. He'd kill her if he knew she was thinking about this but whatever.
The truth is the truth. He was still a creep. All brothers are and that is the stone cold truth but since he hit puberty he became a sex maniac. Every hoe in their school had his number on speed dial. Some of the rumors that she heard were just plain nasty.
The annoying thing was that not a day went by without a phone call from at least three to four chicks all wanting to speak to Trevor. He wasn't any better than their dad. It's a shame but it's the truth that their dad was a male hoe. Hey, he was her dad so she could say it.
Anyway, his infidelity lead to her parents hellish divorce. After finding her dad playing hide the highlighter with his secretary her mom was finished. Her dad's over inflated ego and wandering body parts destroyed their family. Sure, he was a good looking man but his problem was that he knew it. Apparently, lead by example was a parental rule that never crossed his mind. Because, Trevor was turning out to be just like the old man.
When they turned twelve Trevor realized the "power" he had over the ladies. A smile here and a wink there and he could get whatever he wanted. Since that day the mirror became his new best friend. DNA, the gym, and grooming helped him to morph into a hottie according to her best friend Lacy and the entire female population at Hillside Academy. When they saw him coming they drooled and almost dropped their draws. Every time she saw a new girl fall for her brother's deadly charm she wanted to puke.
She often fantasized that she was an only child only wake from those delusions unsatisfied. He was here and she couldn't trade him in. Her big bad older twin brother Trevor lived up to his nickname. Lacy might have thought that he was cute but she knew for a fact that he wasn't. Hell-to-the-no that boy is just plain ol' wicked!
He treated women like interchangeable blow up dolls but he treated her far worse. He constantly bullied or completely ignored her. She prefered being ignored because she rather liked the solitude. She loved her family but she was secretly convinced that they were all completely nuts. They all had extreme degrees of crazy.
As for her parents well adults will be adults. Step-mom number three no um...she meant number four was still annoying as ever. Nora was a ditzy strawberry blond with an IQ equal to her dress size.
Apparently, all of that continuous dying has gone to her brain because all she knew how to do was diet, spend money (not her own), drink excessively, and gossip.
