My dad watched him storm around the kitchen, his face practically turning red. I couldn't help but roll my eyes. "It's just a pan," I thought. "Why would I waste time heating up a doughnut on it?" But here we were, having a full-blown argument over some brown spot on the frying pan. "Why would I even heat up a doughnut on a pan?" I said, trying not to laugh at how ridiculous this was. "You know I don't even like chocolate doughnuts, especially those cheap ones from Walmart." He snapped around, glaring at me like I'd just confessed to a crime. "It was a simple yes or no question!" he yelled, his voice echoing through the kitchen. "Why do you have to make everything so difficult?" I sighed, trying to keep my cool. "Dude, you need to chill. It's really not that serious." "Not that serious?" he huffed, throwing his hands up in the air. "You need to pray about changing your attitude!" He was so mad, veins were practically popping out of his neck. It was almost comical, like one of those cartoons where the character's face turns beet red and steam comes out of their ears. I just stood there, calm as ever, while he kept going on about respect and honesty. Inside, I was thinking, "Man, maybe it's you who needs to pray about those anger issues.
It's hard to like him when I'm always walking on eggshells around him, unsure what will set him off. That's how it feels with my dad and his anger. It's like living with a ticking time bomb, never knowing when he'll explode over something small. His anger fills the room, making everything tense. It's not just the yelling; it's how he looks at me like I've done something wrong. I can't talk to him normally, as anything might trigger another outburst. It's exhausting, and he doesn't see his anger as the problem. Instead, he blames me. What's confusing is that he acts normal around guests, like nothing's wrong. It's like he can turn his anger off around others, making me wonder why he can't do that with us.
