Beautiful Bones, The Poets, Ordinary Things, Late Echo. "This is a fucking endless torture ... okay, hear me out, what about—" (No, we're not calling the band endless torture) "You didn't even hear me out you fucking twat! I'm so fucking done with this shit. Why am I the only one who's actually trying to think of names? All you daft dickheads have been doing is shooting down my ideas point blank, you don't even give them a fucking chance to breathe. We can be called 'razor moon fuckwits' for all I fucking care." — ... Point Blank is not an awful shout. It suited their 'in your face' attitude and brutally honest personalities. They never tried to hide who they were. What you see is what you get. Their songs were straightforward. They didn't fuck around with all the metaphorical, poetic shit. If people were too dense to understand what she was trying to say then it wasn't her problem. It's not her job to interpret the songs for everyone, she's not a fucking translator. Explaining is the same as justifying — which was completely against everything they stood for. It's why she rarely agrees to interviews (much to their manager's despair), they were a bunch of corporate twats waiting to twist her words and expose her secrets anyway. If Rina Luske had something to say then she'd say it, point blank. End of story.
'Loud and proud' as they say, and they were definitely loud. The media has labelled them 'Britain's most American band' — which they all hated but it was better than falling into the 'brit-pop' category. Don't get them wrong, they were proud to be British (hence being insulted by the whole 'American band' title thing) but if their music was classed as pop then they'd never make another song ever again; that was not an over exaggeration. She'd rather work in the local chippy than make music in the same genre as 'Take That'. Fortunately, they were described as "grunge alternative punk rock", or whatever string of adjectives the news outlets had conjured up this time. Misogynistic blokes (who'd heckle them during gigs) just called them a 'shit Nirvana rip off', which wasn't true ... they weren't shit. They were trying to be a noisier Radiohead anyway, not a wannabe Kurt Cobain — both were basically just a Pixies tribute bands so they weren't completely off, and Pixies were influenced by Lou Reed and Black Flag. If you trace it all the way back then everyone is just trying to be the Beatles.
Basically, nothing is original — get over it you uncultured daft muppets!
They could insult her to their heart's content but the opinion of a stranger would never affect her. Why would she care about what some sad pathetic nobody thought — not just about her but about anything? Their egos were bigger than hers if they were delusional to think she'd care, which is impressive because she'd been told (by multiple people) that her arrogance was 'fucking insufferable'. She'd argue that it wasn't arrogance but self assurance if she thought it was worth her breath. Her confidence wasn't something she'd apologise for. Why should she? She's not sorry for believing in herself, it's not like anyone else was going to. Life is about survival and Rina had learnt that it's something you do alone. People will walk all over you if you let them. A week in the industry will tell you that.
