One day at school, I saw that Darshan and Meena got in class before I did. They were chatting about something serious and immediately stopped when I sat near them.
"What happened?" I asked. I really wanted to know what they were talking about especially since they were without me.
Even though Darshan usually spoke up first, Meena spoke up this time. "Oh, it's nothing, Pari. Don't worry about it." She said, trying to look casual. Darshan had an evident blush on his face. I wonder what it meant.
Soon, class begun as usual. Teachers lectured, I wrote notes, and occaisionally, one of my classmates would be noisy. Nothing very special. Until lunch break. Like our routine for the past couple of weeks had been, I would eat in my classroom with Darshan and Meena. However, I didn't see either of them today. I tried messaging both of them, and they gave no response. I decided to eat my lunch alone. I opened my tiffin and took in the aroma of the aloo paratha Mumma made for me. I ate it quickly, enjoying the taste. As I ate my lunch, I noticed a letter on my desk. I decided to open it. I opened the envelope and took out the letter. Then, I unfolded the letter. The words were written in an average handwriting in black pen. And upon reading it, I grew confused, and then began to blush..The letter read:
Dear Pari,
I think about you all day long. You're my best friend and maybe something more. The blush on your cheeks is like roses, and your smile is my dawn. Tumse sundar ladki na hogi kahin. I think our friendship is blossoming...and I think I like you more than a friend. Main tumse bahut pyar karta hoon. Meet me outside during recess today..

My face turned red. Wait..what? Darshan liked me..more than a friend?! Darshan liked me! I was internally celebrating, trying not to look crazy in front of the rest of my classmates. I kissed the letter and tucked it into my backpack. I closed my tiffin, and I drank some water. Time to go meet Darshan...and maybe Meena might be there too.
