Everything was dark, a heavy mist swirling around her feet, thick and suffocating. She could barely see past her own hands, the shadows seeming alive, shifting and curling like serpents waiting to strike. A deep voice, ancient and resonant, echoed through the void, pulling her deeper into the gloom.

"my child", the voice grumbled, sending vibrations down her spine and settling in the pit of her stomach. "why do you resist what is rightfully yours? power flows in your veins, stronger than you can imagine."

Mariana swallowed, her small frame continuing to shake as the voice grew closer and closer, and the mist rose higher.

"you've felt it, haven't you? the rush, the exhilaration, the control.", the voice spoke again. A figure began to emerge from the shadows, tall and imposing, cloaked in darkness that seemed to pulse with its own life. "you cannot deny what you are. The gods, in their arrogance, have kept the truth from you, from so many. There is one, even now, who is being deceived by them."

Her brows creased in confusion. She didn't know who he meant, but a name hovered on the edge of her consciousness, a faint whisper she couldn't quite grasp.

Sensing her confusion, the figure leaned in, his presence overwhelming, like a storm about to break.

"perseus", he whispered, the name clinging onto his tongue and escaping his mouth in a long, serpent-like, hiss. The noise seemed to resonate like a bolt of icy electricity as it shot through her veins. Unfamiliar yet strangely significant, sending a shiver down her spine, her heart skipped a beat as if that name held some hidden weight, a gravity that pulled at her very core.

yet somehow the chill soothed the burning heat that had been creeping up her spine ever since the figure had revealed himself, cooling the fiery pressure of his presence that had been holding her captive. As if the name was a lifeline, it cut through the overwhelming darkness like a breath of fresh air, quelling the suffocating heat of his power.
