"Yoon Jeonghan..." My voice was a mere whisper, barely audible as my gaze met his crimson eyes. They were filled with an array of emotions—fear, guilt, sorrow, and anger—all shimmering beneath the surface of his beautiful, haunted eyes. His breath trembled as he looked down at the knife in his hand, his grip unsteady.

"Halmeoni... no, no, no, Halmeoni, wake up, please. I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. It's all my fault, please don't leave me." His hands gently cradled his Halmeoni's cold cheeks, his voice breaking into a thousand shattered pieces as he sobbed, the tears relentless.

"Jeonghan." I stepped closer, my own tears welling up at the sight of him. My heart ached, breaking as I watched him, consumed by his grief, clinging to the lifeless body in desperation.

As I took another step closer, his head snapped toward me, his eyes now sharp and full of something dark.

"Don't come closer. Go away, Y/N." His voice was laced with venom, a tone I had never heard from him before.

"I'm right here, Jeonghan. I'm here for you. I remember you." I gazed into his eyes, my voice soft but resolute. I missed those warm, gentle eyes, but the ones before me now were cold, dark, and swimming with tears and regret.

"For fuck's sake, just GO AWAY! I don't want to see your face!" He shouted, his voice raw and raspy. A tear slipped down my cheek; I had never seen him like this before. With a heavy heart, I stepped back and turned, moving toward the exit. Fear gripped me—this wasn't the Jeonghan I knew.

Tears streamed down my face as memories of us together played in my mind like a film, each scene reminding me how much I cared for him.

"I care for you, Han-ah," I whispered, closing my eyes. Taking a deep breath, I quickly wiped away my tears and turned back inside with newfound determination.

Standing before Jeonghan in the pool of blood, I didn't move an inch. He flinched when he saw me, his face contorting with pain and anger.

"Why are you so stubborn? I said, LEAVE ME ALONE!" His voice was desperate, but I didn't budge.

"I will never leave you again, Jeonghan," I declared firmly.

"Yah, you better leave before I kill you next." he snarled, standing up and pointing the knife right in front of my face.

"Do it. Kill me." I said, my voice tinged with anger. "Get your mind straight, Yoon Jeonghan."

He stepped closer, the knife just inches from my neck. He stayed in that position, refusing to meet my eyes. After what felt like an eternity, I whispered, "You are not a monster, Jeonghan." I found his other hand and gripped it tightly, as if afraid it would slip away. He finally exhaled and laid his head on my shoulder.

"I killed her, Y/N," he sniffed, his voice breaking as he wailed, and I gently patted his back.

"It's all my fault. I killed her. I am a monster, Y/N. I killed her, oh my..." He kept repeating these words, drowning in guilt as I held him, my heart breaking as he crumbled in my arms. I cried silently, watching him blame himself, helpless to ease his pain.

                                                                                          ...

The next few days passed in a blur, with no word from Jeonghan. I assumed he needed time to grieve. The last time I saw him was at the funeral; he stood silently, staring at Halmeoni's picture, not uttering a single word.

Rummaging through the fridge, I pulled out an empty carton. "Oppa, are we out of milk?" I called out. Dokyeom paused his K-drama and turned toward me.

"Yeah, I finished it just now, hehe. Sorry, I'll replace it tomorrow when I go out," he said, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly.

"Ah, don't worry! I'll go buy us some real quick," I said, reaching for my coat.

"Yah, it's late! Just wait for me to fetch it tomorrow, okay?"

"Aish, no worries! I need some fresh air anyway. Bye!" I chirped, closing the door behind me.

Strawberry milk, banana milk, chocolate milk, melon milk... My eyes marveled at the selection in the convenience store's milk section. Grabbing a carton of milk, I picked up a small carton of melon milk as a snack.

The neighborhood was quiet, most of the residents already settled in for the night. Some cafés were still open, with a few young people hanging out. It was getting colder, so I quickened my pace.

As I hurried along, I noticed footsteps behind me, matching my pace. Too scared to look back, I started to jog, praying I would reach home soon.

When I arrived at the apartment parking lot, I encountered a drunk old man sitting beside the main building door.

"Hey there, pretty girl. I want to enter, but I left my key card. Can we go in together?" he slurred, a smirk on his face. I took a step back, hiding my key card.

"I'm not a bad person, why are you scared?" He stood up and cackled, stumbling toward me. I slowly dialed my brother.

"What are you doing? I'm not a bad person!" he shouted, trying to grab my phone. When he succeeded in throwing it away, he stepped closer and grabbed my hair.

"I told you I'm a good person. And you're a good girl, right? So be a good girl and listen to me." As he leaned in to kiss me, a hand suddenly grabbed and pulled me from his grasp.

"Y/N, the key card," a familiar voice instructed. I quickly scanned the card and entered the building before the man could follow. Breathing shakily, I found myself face to face with those warm eyes.

He hugged me tightly, and I closed my eyes, tears escaping.

"After Halmeoni, I won't dare to lose you again, Lee Y/N," he whispered.
