It was only an hour or twos walk to the north most wall of the forge. To assist Dis explained a clear path used by ghoul traders that goes past the north wall, he also let them know what he had been informed of.

‘It looks like tracks from the west don’t lead anywhere so the entrance, that the enclave used, is most likely there. Probably used vertibirds and landed a distance away.’

They made it to the north wall and looked up stunned, it was around eighteen feet tall and more of a rampart. No wonder the enclave used death claws. The place was a fortress, not a town as people believed. They headed west and followed the wall around. The height was consistent and it appeared just as solid as ever. A short walk later and they came across shipping containers that were pressed against the wall. As far as they could tell the enclave had put the containers against the wall and then lanced through it to release them, this would also explain why they were still trapped. There was a shitty ramp laid out on the containers leading to the top, the bastards had wanted to watch the death claws release. They climbed the ramps careful to keep their noise to a minimum.

‘Fucking enclave couldn’t break this place.’ Vic huffed as she climbed.

‘I would guess that’s why the filled the place with monsters.’

‘You think the residents know what they had in here?’

‘I am 100% sure the enclave knew what was here Vic.’

‘Glad we don’t have to deal with those guys anymore’, she glanced at Asra, ‘Not sure I prefer this option though.’

‘We stay as high as possible till we get sight of the convoy. The G.E.C.K must still be here or at least something of great value.’

‘Must be,’ Vic whispered.

They peered over the top. The street showed the remains of a slaughter. Bones were strewn all along it, some hands still wrapped around weapons. Two death claws lay dead but there had been more than half a dozen released. This street extended around 100 meters with an open area at the end. From what they could see, leading in a little from the outside was taller housing. They went onto the roofs and headed to the centre for a better view. Just over half way they heard large steps down to the right. Instinctively, they lay down as quiet as possible in the middle. The residents post war had flattened all the roofs so they could back away from the wall without going down to ground level. Vic put a finger over her mouth and pointed to the edge. She slowly and quietly crawled towards the edge and Asra followed. They need to see exactly what they were up against.

They peaked over the edge and saw the ground 18 feet below, on the other side of the street they saw a giant clawed hand scrapping the building front. A long muscular arm, leading to a giant lizard chimera, it was standing at around 10 feet tall. Hooked horns a top its head, reaching over yellow eyes; with spiked teeth. They froze; fear was as present as the giant creature of death opposite. Their eyes followed the claws four on each hand, each a foot long and the thumbs were half the length. It stalked continuing to the centre its claw had left a visible gouge in the wall of the building. They stayed in place till it had walked the full length of the street and turned to the south.

‘Well… Were gonna have to view the high street from the end here. Stay low and quiet.’

‘Yeah no shit, wouldn’t want to manicure the corpse of that fucking thing.’ Vic flicked sweat from her forehead and began crawling ahead, Asra followed.

Once they made it to the end they could see how large the cleared area in the centre really was. It had been cleared approximately half a kilometre wide and went around two K to the south. They could see the monstrosity a ways to the south and another on the opposite side of the cleared area. The top area looked clear but was dotted with what looked like market stalls which stood just over half the size of a death claw. The high street ran north to south on the other side of the lower area and they could see flat ground a ways to the south.

‘Here,’ Asra passed the 308 over so they could both survey the area. He pulled his 50. ‘That one in the north appears to be staying around the top of Main Street.’ He traced the street south. ‘Looks clear down to, the flat area.’
