The Man
...
"Ah, finally!"
A man jolted awake, his body aching and weak. He blinked against the harsh, white light that flooded the room. As he tried to move, a cold realization settled over him--he was shackled to a table, unable to lift even a finger. Panic rose in his chest, his breaths coming fast and shallow.
"You humans are so resourceful," said a voice, high-pitched and unnervingly calm. The man's eyes widened as he saw a shambling Creature, clad in a black robe. "And to think you used to help me with these kind of stuffs."
"You..." said the man as he recognized the createure in front of him, if not for the robe and mask he wears, the man may smell the creature's faint scent of seawater
"I'll make sure none of your potential goes to waste."
With great effort, the man turned his head, focusing on the creature standing over him. Anger and fear churned within him as he tried to process what was happening.
"No... No... It can't be..." he murmured, fragments of memory flooding back. He remembered the battle against the Storm Kraken, where he, his beloved, and the Maiden of Light had fought valiantly to bring down the Archon of Storm. But now, he was here, at the mercy of the Archon of Void. "IT CAN'T BE!!!"
"Shh, scream all you want, traitor," the creature said, a smile creeping across its face. "I have no more need for you. You can watch, but keep quiet."
The man's eyes widened in horror as he saw the creature approach another table. His heart sank as he saw the lifeless form of a woman--his silver-haired beloved--lying there, motionless.
"Anahita! No! Please, don't hurt her! Spare her!" he begged, tears blurring his vision.
"You should have thought of that before you betrayed me. You joined the Archon of Earth because of this silver-haired woman," the creature replied coldly, manipulating strange devices that began to emit soft, ominous beeping sounds. "I gave you both power beyond imagining, and this is how you repay me? You have been in my service for millennia, and now you have chosen to stand against me."
The man clenched his teeth, anger surging within him. "There are others who will stop you--the Archon of Earth, the remaining heroes. They'll come for you!"
The creature let out a mocking laugh, shaking its head. "The Archon of Earth? Look over there."
The man's eyes followed, dread pooling in his stomach. He saw a cold, empty space where a single, severed leg, laid there supported by a series of tubes.
"No... You... it can't be, you wouldn't..."
"You must pay for the fate of the Archon of Storm," the creature said, moving to another table, where a motionless form lay under a sheet, limp tentacles of a monstrous being that in his mind, he just fought, now connected to a series of tubings as well. "There are things worse than death, you know."
"You... You can't do this," the man whispered, a sob catching in his throat as he saw something floating inside a glass flask, The Primordial Essence of Storm, already placed inside a pulsating, embryonic form. "Say hello to your daughter Mikael, guess our old Theory about creating new life from three beings, without the use of foul necromancy actually worked," said the Archon of Void as his snout widened underneath his mask. "She shall be my weapon."
